We are going home to San Antonio for a week. I might not have internet access the entire time. I am still hoping the neighbors or my in-laws got wireless unprotected internet since Christmas. A girl can hope, right? If not….have a great week! You will hear from me next weekend. We are all so excited to go back home. Hugs and smiles

Check out this amazing card from Kristen Soboloski.

I love everything about this card. It’s soooo pretty! Check out her blog Artfully Inking. Kristen does amazing work.

When I was playing with the Black Faux Linen background yesterday, I stamped two panels. One with just the VersaMagic Dew drop ink, one with the flowers stamped in the same ink, but embossed with Iridescent Ice. The one without all the glitter seemed more appropriate for the white based card, so I used that.

But I couldn’t just throw that second panel away, right?

petal-prints-versamagic-sparkly-night-flowers.jpg

So here is what I did with this panel. Like I said, I stamped the Petal Print flowers with Aloe Vera and Sea Breeze VersaMagic Dew Drops and then embossed them with Iridescent Ice. The ink is kind of like the Chalk ink Stampin’ UP! used to sell. It’s a chalk ink that you can use on wood, leather, coated and uncoated paper.

I then mounted the 3″ x 4  1/4″ panel on a black panel 1/4″ bigger. The card base is Cool Caribbean cardstock stamped with Paisley in Cool Caribbean and sponged around the edges. I added a splash of Certainly Celery cardstock to make the green of the leaves stand out more. The Celery cardstock is stamped with the leaves of the Petal Prints set and also sponged around the edges.

The ribbon is from Starlit Studio and oh so gorgeous.

For the Tag I stamped Sparkle on white cardstock, ran it through my xyron, added iridescent ice and embossed it. I punched it out with my small oval punch from Stampin’ Up!. It is layered on a piece of certainly celery, that was stamped just like the bigger celery cardstock piece and punched out with the big oval punch. It is attached with silver cord to the Starlitstudio ribbon.

Over the last weekend Charmaine and I were emailing back and forth discussing inks. I told her that I wanted to buy all the VersaMagic Dew Drops from Eclectic Paperie. Charmaine said she had them all and that she loved them.

versamagic-rak-charmaine-ik.jpg

Then she asked me if I had already ordered them. I told her I couldn’t order anything right now, because we will be gone all next week. The kids are having their spring break and we will be going to San Antonio! I am so excited about that!!! Anyway….imagine my surprise when I got a big envelope in the mail on Wednesday. Charmaine send me two four packs of the Dew Drops and this gorgeous card! Oh my goodness….I had to sit down after I opened it. I searched for her phone number and left a super excited message on her answering machine.

Charmaine colored her cat with a blender pen and the dew drops. It’s so pretty! Charmaine, thanks again. I’m sooo thankful! And…can you tell I like the dew drops. I made three cards with it yesterday. LOL

Julia picked a great topic for today’s Way to Use it challenge: Glossy paper. Mine doesn’t see the light of day too much. I had bought glossy black paper at least 1 1/2 years ago in Stamp Antonio. I was really excited when I found it and thought I would write lots of tutorials with it. LOL … NOT!

petal-prints-versamagic-nig.jpg

I started by sanding the black glossy cardstock first horizontally , then vertically with a sanding block from Stampin’ Up! to acchieve the Faux Linen look. Then I used my new VersaMagic Dew Drop ink to stamp the flowers and leaves on top of the background.

You are asking where I got the Dew drops?…Well…I will tell you tomorrow morning. You can find all colors at Eclectic Paperie and buy them there individually. I heard you can also buy them in four packs at JoAnn’s.

The card base is a 5 1/4″ x 10 1/2″ piece of whisper white cardstock folded in half. The glossy cardstock piece is 3″ x 4 1/4″, the old Olive and Basic Black layers were always each 1/4″ bigger.

The flowers are from the Petal Prints set. I still LOVE this set. I went totally crazy when it first came out in whatever mini catalog that was. The saying is from the set Brighter tomorrow. I thought it was kind of fitting to have this saying on such a dark background.

Random org picked #100. That poster was

Kimberly Says: I am new to stamping but so far my favorite technique has been using watercolor crayons. Watercolor wash, and wet watercolor crayons are a lot of fun. I also learned crayon resist last night and love the look….I am new so I love it all! LOL

Kimberly, please contact me so I can send the candy out to you!

Thank you all for telling me about your favorite/most used technique. Some of the most picked favorites were: Heat Embossing, Paper Piercing and Faux Stitching, Paper piecing.

Have a wonderful day. Hugs and smiles

I made a second challenge card yesterday. This challenge is for yesterday’s layout challenge, Monday’s technique challenge, which was using only brown tones and the technique challenge three weeks ago called Blurred vision.

doodle-this-chocolate-flowe.jpg

I used Chocolate Chip cardstock as my card base. I stamped the 2 1/2″ x 5″ natural ivory cardstock with Chocolate Chip flowers and doodles from Doodle This and went over the stamping with my aqua painter to blur the lines. I sponged the edges of the cardstock to give it a softer look.

The Close to Cocoa scallop border is made with the corner punch. If you haven’t seen how that is done yet, check my tutorial here. I then added doodles with the chocolate Chip Marker.

The saying is from the Stamp set Brighter Tomorrow. It is stamped in chocolate chip on a natural ivory circle and layered on a Close to cocoa marvy scallop circle punch out. Again I sponged the edges of the natural ivory circle lightly.

I finished it off with some paper piercing (what else) and Stampin’ Up! organdy ivory and chocolate grosgrain ribbon.

I received this card from Susan Liles on my BEST MAILDAY EVER back on Monday! Check out her fun blog SusieStampaLot.

I love this sweet card. Susan used Like a Latte from the winter mini catalog. The designer paper is from the Rebecca pack. The heart and the steam are sparkly! And check out that ribbon! It’s soooo fun.

Thanks again Susan! I LOVE it!

The sketch for today’s challenge is from a card Jenn Balcer stamped. I just love her! She is the most fun, kindest person and an unbelievable stamper! Check her blog out if you haven’t done so already!

Kim McNutt recently made a super cute card with crayon resist and Unfrogettable. I mean…she always makes incredible cards. But this one reminded me of how much I like the look of that technique. So I decided to use it with the Crab & company set. I love that little star fish.

I am just a bit confused about the sayings in this set. Does “Sandy Claws” and “A Pinch to grow an Inch” make sense to you? Is there an American saying I just don’t know about?

The card base is Marigold Morning. I stamped it with Itty bitty backgrounds and Marigold morning classic ink. The black layer is 2 3/4″ x 5 1/4″, the stamped glossy white 2 1/2″ x 5″. I stamped the Glossy cardstock with black stazon. I used the heat gun to make sure it was dry. Then went over the images with white crayon. Next I used sponge daubers and Certainly Celery, Marigold Morning and Cool Caribbean to apply color all over the cardstock. Lastly I buffed it with a paper towel. The ink will resist where crayon was applied.

The circles are punched with 3/4″, 1 1/4″ and 1 3/8″ circle punches. For the smaller black circle I used the smallest circle template from my coluzzle!

The dotted ribbon is from Starlitstudio, turquoise grosgrain is from Stampin’ Up!.

Have a wonderful day! My downline Stephanie is coming over later and I get to stamp more! Did I mention I am excited I can just stamp for fun? Hugs and smiles

Okay after posting this and you all telling me Snappy Claws stands for SAnTA CLAUSE, I felt like a complete goober and was a bit embarrassed. I changed the saying out to Oh Happy Day! Good thing I can laugh about myself!

crab-company-sc116-with-better-saying-small.jpg

I used the Typset Alpha for Oh, Everyday Flexible Phrases for Happy Day.
