Yesterday the week long Dirty Dare challenges started over at SCS. You can read more about what those challenges are, the purpose of those challenges and the schedules in this thread by Julie. Today I am one of the challenge hosts.  I came up with this simple sketch for the sketch challenge I am hosting:

The card base is a 5 1/4″ x 10 1/2″ piece of chocolate chip cardstock folded in half. I stamped the Linen background stamp on it with chocolate chip ink.  All patterned paper is from the Linen Prints designer paper pack. The stamps are from the set Flowers & Flourishes.

I inked up the big flower with Cameo Coral and stamped it off once. Then I huffed on it to moisten it, rock n’ rolled the edges with chocolate chip classic ink and stamped it on white cardstock. I cut it out, added a chocolate chip flower punchout from the Three For You punch in it’s center and topped it off with a circle jewel brad from the fire collection.

The main panel is a piece of white cardstock, stamped with Apricot Appeal and Linen background stamp and flowers from the Flowers & Flourishes set. I added the small flower background stamp from that set with cameo coral ink that was stamped off once for a softer look. The saying is stamped in chocolate chip.

I paper pierced some swirls with the Priceless Brass template and some corner deco on the top right with the mat provided in the Tool Kit.

Of course I couldn’t help myself to add some Faux Stitching with the All in a Row set.

Please think and pray for my family’s safety today. We are heading towards San Antonio today for a weeks visit! It’s a 14 hour drive!

  1. Great card! Love the sketch 🙂

    A 14 hour drive!?!? I don’t think I could make it!

  2. I love this card Beate! This is so pretty; especially love that flower and the way you rock-n-rolled the edges and still kept the white around the flower. It looks sooo pretty! And safe travels to you all! I am also heading out today, but my trip is only 5.5 hours to Philadelphia to see my family in PA and to attend the CKC in Valley Forge with Mom! Enjoy your trip!

  3. Wowza, and I thought the 12 hour drive to my MIL’s was hard. I do have a 6, 4, and 2 year old though. Makes it a little more difficult. Have a great trip. Hugs.

  7. I am always in awe of your creativeness. Thanks for sharing. I can always be creative after I’ve been inspired. Good luck on your trip. Many years ago we made a 12 hour drive for a family reunion in New Mexico…since then we’ve always flown 🙂

  11. Thanks for another lovely card and sketch! I always look to your blog for inspiration! I need to give that rock and roll technique a try. God speed on your travels …..I understand what that’s all about. We’re driving 12.5 hrs in September to visit family in Indiana. Been there/done that twice already………it’s not easy but we gotta do what we gotta do! Have a fun and safe trip!

I love everything you have done with this card, colors, layout, paper, placement, stamp selection, everything, it’s perfect. I hope to one day be even slightly comparable to your work. Thanks for the inspiration.

  14. I love this card Beate! The faux stitching is a perfect finishing touch! Safe travels.

  15. I’m lovin’ this card!! Everything about it is perfect. I can’t wait to get back to some stamping after things calm down with the new baby. Have fun in TX by the way – it’s gorgeous now because of all of the rain we’ve been having. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it passing through to your in-laws. 🙂

  20. LOVED this sketch challenge Beate!! It is a great one that I’m sure I’ll use over and over. The real challenge for me was featuring a sentiment stamp instead of an image! But I like it!! Thanks!!
