Today’s tutorial on SCS is for a Double Pocket Card.
My card base is a a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Sahara Sand cardstock folded in half. It is layered with a 3 15/16″ x 5 3/16″ piece of Chocolate Chip. The Double Pocket card piece is created out of Whisper White cardstock. All designer paper is from Thoroughly Modern Designer Paper Pack.
The Ruffled backing of my circle layers is created with the Eyelet Shapeabilities Pendant. The circle layers were cut with Nestabilities. Both butterflies were cut with Big Diez Beautiful Butterflies Die. The bigger butterfly was first pained with Shimmery Paint and sponge dauber, then the edges were sponged with Chocolate Chip. The pearls are from the Pretties Kit.
The sentiment is stamped twice, once in Basic Brown and once in Bermuda Bay. The You from the Basic Brown layer was colored with Rose Red ink. I cut slightly inside the oval lines and taped this piece on my Bermuda Bay oval, that had been cut out with the large oval punch. That was layered on a scallop oval that had been punched out of Chocolate Chip Cardstock. The gorgeous ribbon is from May Arts.
The inside of the card is pretty simple and mirrors the layers on the card front.

I am sure most of you have heard about the new demonstrator agreement form we Stampin’ Up! demonstrator will have to sign at the end of this month. I am afraid I might not be able to stay a demonstrator with the new agreement. I sent an email to Stampin’ Up!’s compliance office, but haven’t heard back yet. I feel bad, since I love Stampin’ Up! products, but I won’t give up my work at Splitcoaststampers so I can stay a demonstrator. I will let you know what happens. My blog might be changing to a more Non-Stampin’ Up! blog soon.

You are such an inspiration! You were one of the people I thought about when I heard about the new IDA and wondered what you would do. I for one would be very sad to see you step down as a demo, but I totally understand why you would. I think it’s disgusting that SU have put talented people like you in this position. Hugs!

Nikki from Germantown, Ohio! I just LOVE thes card. The colors are so amazing together and I just love the ribbons and pearls! So gorgeous! I would love to see your website without SU. I am thoroughly disgusted with the new rule and have decided to leave SU too. Though I’m not a big seller in their minds so it probably won’t matter. Anyways, I just wanted you to know that SU or not I will still adore your blog:) I think you are a wonderful educator and that SU should realize that they get MORE exposure from you having the freedom to speak about the things you love and use then restricting that ability. I hope you are getting used to Ohio. I’m sure it’s not as grand as Fla. It’s been unseasonable cold…brr. Fall is beautiful though. Make sure you take your kids to Tipp City/Troy for a wagon ride and to visit Fulton Farms. They have great produce! Also, check out the Metro parks for taking some of your walks. Beate, I’m with you. I too will not be signing the agreement. Although I don’t do a great volume with SU I decided to not continue. I’m so glad your back to posting on your blog. I really missed your posts and weekedn challenges. Hope to play along more frequently.

I just emailed you regarding the SU new policy too. I am seriously thinking of quitting. I am NOT a big seller, but I had NO intentions of going into it BIG time, and certainly have no intentions of re-vamping my PERSONAL blog to suit their qualifications.I have a full-time job and SU was just a fun hobby on the side that helped me in my scrapping addiction. I am so sad about this, they are making things really hard for some sellers.
Beate, what a gorgeous card (as usual LOL!!!). You have always been and will continue to be such a huge inspiration and source of learning for me, no matter what products you use or don’t use. I think it is a shame that SU is becoming so restrictive…that really will have a HUGE impact at SCS. It seems to be indicative of when a company gets so large that their corporate attorneys start recommending policy to protect the company rather than seeing the bigger picture of the very grass roots world in which their customers operate. I love SU products, but this type of mindset is one reason I never will sign up to be a demonstrator.

Such a beautiful card, I can’t wait to give it a try a bit later. I have been contemplating giving up my SU demo status; but was a bit undecided until I read the new policy yesterday. Well, that sealed the deal. I enjoy my blog too much to have to change it to an all SU blog. I enjoy being able to share my creativity with everyone else even if it means pointing them down a road that leads elsewhere besides SU. I couldn’t imagine not being able to talk about Splitcoast, or Two Peas or American Crafts, or Bazzil or many of my other favorite manufacturers. Oh well, Que Cera Cera I suppose!
I hope you don’t leave SU. I remember the days when SplitCoast was pretty much just Stampin’ Up and found it to be a valuable resource! Now it seems it is more and more other companies. I really miss the way it used to be, myself. Whatever you decide, I wish you well.

Beate – once again a wonderful tutorial. And I dearly love your style. I try, mostly in vein, to replicate your wonderful cards.
I am mostly a hobby demo and was just beginning to think about starting a blog. I can’t believe (although I have read the new agreement) that SU – with their size and reputation – is becoming so mean-spirited and closed minded about this. I too, am thinking very seriously about what to do!
Thanks for sharing all your wonderful knowledge over the years. Whether it’s SU or not, I will continue to try to emulate your style!

As always, your card is lovely! I am so sorry that you are in the SU bind. I have to chose as well and will likely give up my demonstrator status. I understand why, but still don’t like having to make the choice. I hope your decision making goes smoothly for you!
Beate, I’m sorry that you’re in this position where you might have to choose. I don’t envy you that. I would suggest you call DS and get transfered to compliance since your situation is very similar to DT members. They’ve asked those on DT’s to call them so that they can speak with them on a case-by-case basis. Maybe you’ll get an answer sooner that way, and it will hopefully be a correct one. I know that sometimes, because DS folks are only human, you can get several different answers. Best wishes to you!!!

Beate, Love your project as always. I’m not always leaving comment but I always visit. I will still visit SU or not… I will have to resign as a SU demo too since I am not going to stop using other stuff and giving them credit even if I like SU stuff too. Here is a HUG. Beate, it is unfortunate that you are put in this postition. I’m new to SU products, but not your blog. It seems very mean-spirited of them to do this to the many talented people who are so helpful to us out here who are less so. I certainly will not be buying from them in the future. JC
It seems as thought SU is shooting themselves in the foot again. My friends have been after me for a long time to become a demonstrator. Now I will for sure not consider it.
I knew there was a reason why I didn’t become a SU demonstrator. I really believe they are hurting themselves in this decision and will be losing some of the best of the best. I like SU, but they are not the only game in town. I love your work and reading your blog each day. It’s too bad you had to make such an awful decision.

I have already decided that I choose freedom over being put in a box. I am personally offended that SU thinks that they can control my creativity! I love your blog and come here often…most of the time to see how you use SU products. But you have every right to use whatever tools you think will work for your creations. I just wanted to share how sad I am that you have to make such a difficult decision. You are the first person I thought of when I heard of the new policies. It seems to me that the new IDA negates the Statement of the Heart and I hope that SU will rethink their harsh new policies.
I adore your creativity and the inspiration you give to me and so many others is priceless.
Love your beautiful card! I just listened to the updated info on the new demo agreement and the modification that it’s ok to link to general crafting forums such as Splitcoast — just not ok to actively market a competing product. But you can mention them — just not link to their store to buy them. I hope that’s a clarification that lets you stay as your work is so beautiful and you always find a way to make me want stamp sets and paper that I did not think I wanted until you made me need it! Keep up the great work here and on Splitcoast and I hope you stay with SU.

I check your blog daily. I love your projects and attention to detail. I love it with our without SU supplies. I hope you will continue to share your talent and creativity. I am amazed that in the difficult economic times that SU feels the need to push so many demonstrators to make such a hard decision. I love seeing our products in your creations but will still visit as usual to see your wonderful work. I am pretty much a one club demo. I love to share and teach. This agreement has put a halt to any ideas of pursing a web site and trying to grow my business. I can’t afford the DBWS and was looking to create a blog, but I would have to be to careful in what I put on there.

I was VERY surprised that SU would cut their nose to spite their face! Most of the blogs I follow are SU Demos – SU is going to see sales drop big time! Unfortunate for them – I like the company too –

I love your work, I enjoy your tutorials. I am upset over what SU is doing to their consultants. My consultants does it as a hobby also and people like my self who live on limited income can not soend big dollars every month. But we try to keep her with enough orders so she can keep selling to us. SU will lose a lot of talented people who have shared with us through their blogs. That is the way I have learned and now enjoy the art of stamping and making cards………. Good Luck and I will try to follow you in the future.

I have never posted here but have enjoyed seeing your work for awhile now. The cards are stunning and your tutorials so helpful. It is amazing of you to share so much of yourself. With the SU clarifications I hope you can work it out to continue to be a demo (unless the other companies you work with insist you directly sell their products). If not, I hope you will continue to use SU in your creations to inspire us all with the possibilities using their product.
