Before the new IDA came out, I was asked to demo at the Cinncinati regional. I was very excited as well as a little apprehensive in what to show. I decided to play with Shimmery Paint and come up with a few cool uses. After the IDA came out, I called and said I wouldn’t be going. I didn’t feel right demoing for everyone when I might not sign the IDA. So I will be sharing the samples here.

For this candle, I mixed the white Shimmery Paint with Chocolate Chip Reinker, applied it to my ink and stamped it onto my tissue paper. The stamp is from the Stampin’ Up! set Friends 24-7.

I have a few more samples created with Shimmery Paint that I can share over the next few days.

Have a wonderful Sunday!  Hugs and smiles

  1. I am sorry, this IDA issue is still hanging and bothering…. your candle came out so great – love the elegant look of it and I am sure, the shimmer will underline that!!

  2. Beate… your candle is beautiful.
thank you for sharing ~ will you have a video showing for this? I love your videos.. as does my mom as well.

    thanks again ~ Pam

  3. Ahhh, I would NOT have thought to mix ink with the paint. Fabulous candle. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Beautiful, Beate! Love that, mixing re-inkers with it! You are BRILLIANT!

  5. would you mind expanding your thoughts on IDA, please.

  6. Your candles are the best!

  7. So Pretty! Thank you for getting me out of my creative funk. I’m so sorry the IDA is causing such an issue for people like yourself. I love your blog, have loved you on SCS since the beginning. Thank you!

  8. Hi Beate.
Love your work. I soooooo understand your take on all this. I’m very sad too……on several levels. 🙁

    This candle is beautiful. TFS.
What type of candle is it? (Brand?)
Why do you use tissue instead of stamping directly on the candle? Is it the curvature of the candle? How do you apply the tissue? This seems like a lovely idea for gifts.

    Cheers,
    Stacy

  9. This is really cool but irl does the shimmer still show with the chocolate chip added to the ink after you heat seal it to the candle?

  10. What a fab idea mixing the paint and SU reinker! Sending a prayer your way on the IDA issue!!

  11. Oh so beautiful!! Love how you mixed the paint with the reinker!! What a wonderful project!!

  12. It’s too bad that the timing turned out to be what it was – it would have been nice to see you on that DVD! 🙂 I hope you had a good time at the event, nonetheless.

I bet this candle looks even better in person with the lovely shimmer! I chose to get the Champagne Mist paint and I really love using it! It looks so great when rubbed on a background embossed with the Big Shot folders… (That’s what we did at my latest team meeting.) Too bad pictures can’t really pick up the nice shimmery effect!

    TFS!
    Cindy 🙂

  13. This is absolutly gorgeous!!! Thank you for sharing! 🙂

  14. I LOVE your candle, Beate!! That image is so perfect for it…and I must try this technique sometime soon!!

  15. Hi there – I am really enjoying your projects – such beautiful ideas!
I would love to know where you got your “shimmery paint” – I have tried a couple of crafts shops and they don’t carry it – can you order it online? – thanks – cheers, Heidi
