When I received The Cat’s Pajamas set Who’s This?, I thought it would be perfect to create a Masking sample for the video tutorial for that technique.  I stamped my mask images on Eclipse tape and cut them out slightly inside the stamped lines.

I stamped the images in Tuxedo Memento Ink on a  3 1/2” square of X-Press It Blending Card. It was cut and embossed with a slightly smaller Classic Square Nestabilities die (okay…I meant to just emboss a frame into it, but goofed and put the embossing mat on the wrong side. Typical Beate move!). The image was colored with Copic Markers (Coat: N3, N5, N7 Coat cuff: E40, E41, E43 Scarf: N3, N5, YG05, YG17 Hair: Y11, Y21, E97, E99, Owl: E41, E43, E44, E47 Beak and Feet: Y21, E97 Jeans: B93, B95, B97 Boots, Mitten, Ear Muffs: R24, R27, R29 stippled bushes:  YG05, YG17, G28 Ground: E41, E43, E44). The sky was airbrushed with B91.  The image was layered on a black scalloped cardstock square cut with Classic Square Nestabilities.

A 2 ½” x 3” piece of Wanted Cosmo Cricket Paper was adhered to a 4 ¾” square from the same paper pack. The edges were sanded before the square as stitched to a 3/16” bigger piece of Black cardstock.  That was adhered to the card base, a 5 ¼” x 10 ½” piece of Kraft cardstock folded in half.

I tied a bow with May Arts Red Gingham ribbon and topped it with a Cosmo Cricket buton. It was adhered to the right hand side of the image. Champagne Kaisercraft Pearls finish on the top right corner finish off the card front.

The card base is kept very simple. 1 ¼” x 4 ¾” piece of the striped Wanted paper from the front was adhered to a 4 ¾” piece of White cardstock. That was stitched to a 3/16” bigger cardstock piece which was adhered to the inside of the card.

  5. This is just darling! I guess you put all the masks back on everything to airbrush? The pop of gingham is the perfect finishing touch for these simply drawn bright images!

I heard Judikins was not producing Eclipse tape anymore. Have you tried the new Copic masking material, is it similar? I’d like to get some Eclipse but it seems to be out of stock everywhere.
