For the Product Review last week, Rose Ann wrote a tutorial on how to stamp with Gelatos. That is so much fun and an easy way to create a water colored look.

For my sample I used Taylored Expressions Discover your Wings stamp set. I used yellow, brown, pistachio green and blue metallic gelatos and stamped it on a Fabriano Notecard. I added detail to the flower center with  Nougat and Sepia Big Brush pen. I immediately went over it with a watercolor brush to soften the dots I added to a subtle shadow. The sentiment was inked with the Sepia Big Brush pen and stamped to the upper right.

Here is another project I created with the Faber-Castell products.

I started by painting a chipboard circle with gesso to prime it. Next the grit background from Moments in Bloom was inked with Nougat Big Brush Pen and stamped over the chipboard. Once it dried, blue metallic and pistachio gelato were rubbed over the circle and smoothed out with a finger tip.

Flowers from Moments in Bloom were inked with the Cobalt Turquoise and Chrome Green Big Brush Pen and stamped over the grid. Once that dried, the same pens were used to add more detail. Small black lines were added with the Fine Artist Pen and highlights with more gesso (I used my paper piercer to apply it). The sentiment, also from the same set, was inked up with the Black PITT Big Brush Pen and stamped over the flowers.  More gesso was used to soften the edges of the circle.

Ribbon was run through the hole in the chipboard, topped with a button and tied on with Honeydew Twine. Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day! Hugs and smiles

Here is another project created with the fabulous Faber-Castell products we were lucky enough to have to review. 🙂

The new Butterfly Flourish image from Sweet n’ Sassy was inked with Black PITT Big Brush Pen and stamped on a Frayed Canvas Triangle from Maya Roads. The butterfly were colored with PITT Aquarelle Pencils (105, 111, 117, 125, 153, 166), the background with Cotton Candy Gelato.

The word stamps are from the Sweet n’ Sassy stamp set You. They were inked with the black Big Brush Pen and stamped over the triangle. A tiny flower was stitched to the banner with a small button and Linen thread.

Altered art and Mixed Media are usually not my thing. I am grateful that tutorials and product reviews push me out of my comfort zone. It was fun creating samples with the Faber-Castell pens, gelatos and pencils.

There is a new product review on SCS today. We got to play with Design Memory Crafts Mixed Media Sampler (Faber-Castell products). After checking their blog and finding this cool card, I wrote a tutorial for the technique for SCS. My sample is a lot more subdued then Jill Foster‘s, but I still like it. Those Pastel Pencils are a lot of fun.

I started by cutting a piece of black cardstock with a Classic Square Nestabilities die. Flowers from Verve’s Great Friend were stamped in Embossing Ink and embossed with silver embossing powder. The flowers were colored with PITT Pastel Pencils and the edges were smudged with a white gelato stick.

The card base was embossed with the Elegance M-Bossibilities folder and the image panel was adhered over it with dimensionals. A piece of Solar White cardstock was cut and embossed with a Tailor-Made Classic Keyhole die. A sentiment was stamped over it in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and the right edge was cut straight. It was adhered to the lower right hand side of the image. It was topped with a black button, tied with Lemondrop twine.

Today is the third release day of Flourishes new stamps. The design team is featuring the He Is Risen set. It is a gorgeous new Easter set.

For my sample I used the main image. It was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on white cardstock, cut and embossed with a Petite Oval Nestabilities die and colored with Copic Markers (Lilies: Y13, Y15, Y17, YR15   Flower Stems: YR18, E37, E29   Leaves: G40, G43, G46  Small Flowers: B45, Y17   Cross: E70, E71, E74, E23). A few white lines were added to the cross with a white Faber-Castel white pastel pen.

The edges of the oval were first sponged with Antique Linen, then just a touch with Vintage Photo Distress ink. It was first layered on a piece of white cardstock, cut and embossed with a Scallop Oval Nestabilities die, then on piece of white cardstock, cut and embossed with a Lace Doily Motifs die.

A 2″x 5″ piece of the new My Mindy’s Eye Be Happy Follow Your Heart paper was adhered to a 5″ square of the same paper pack. The edges of the papers were sanded before it was stitched to a 1/4″ bigger piece of Kraft cardstock. Seam Binding was tied around the vertical strip and topped with an October Afternoon Button before the image layers were adhered to the paper layers. Everything was adhered to a 5 1/2″ square white card base.

A sentiment from the same set was stamped to a piece of white cardstock, cut and embossed with a Parisian Accents and Motifs die. The embossed part was sponged and adhered to the lower right of the image.  Pearls and part of of a Pearl swirl finish off the card.

Yesterday’s tutorial on Splitcoaststampers was written by Dina Kowal. She showed us how to create a word card. It’s a very fun and easy project, perfect for showing off your patterned paper.

My card base was created out of a 3 1/2″ x 10 1/2″ piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock. It was scored at 3 1/2″ and 7″. My letters were cut out of MME Lost and Found Market Street Patterned paper. The paper edges were sanded and stitched. On top of the I and the bottom of the U an image from Verve’s Because of you was stamped in Rich Cocoa Memento Ink.

I recently got the red and yellow Mixed Media Sampler from Faber-Castell and was itching to try the aquarelle and pastel pencils from those sets. I used the red aquarelle and yellow pastel pencil to color the flower on the U and blended it with an embossing pen (I really need to get a new blending pen. Mine was dry).

A sentiment from the Because of you was stamped in Rich Cocoa Ink on a piece of Solar White cardstock, cut and embossed with the second smallest of the Label 21 Nestabilities die. The inner part was sponged with Antique Linen Distress ink and part of the flower image was stamped over it in the same ink. The sentiment was adhered to the lower part of the heart and topped with a butterfly, cut and embossed out of Kraft cardstock with one of dies from the Wonderful Wing Shapabilities set. Rhinestones on the flower, butterfly and lower part on the I finish off the card.
