Saturday we stopped by Burg Eltz, one of my favorite castles on our way to see my Mom’s side of the family.

It was a bit hazy, but still nice.

Saturday we tried to catch a Rhine Boat tour, but they weren’t running until Saturday! Just our luck….LOL

No matter. We drove up to St. Goar and checked out the ruin of Burg Rheinfels, the largest castle (ruin) overlooking the Rhine.

You can find more photos in my facebook photo album.

Friday we went to downtown Mainz and visited the cathedral and St. Stephan’s church there.

It was a rather short trip for us, but we needed it. Sightseeing is a lot of work!!!

More pictures from Mainz can be found on my facebook album.

The kids and I always go to the Felsenmeer in Odenwald to climb the big boulders. They are all over a big hill and were used by the Romans for buildings in this area.

Every time we go we try to climb up all the way to the top of the hill. Thursday we went and Austin and Lucas made it all the way up. Rick and I waited with Rebecca and my Mom for them to come back down.

You can find a lot more pictures in my facebook photo album for that day.

Hugs and smiles

Tuesday we went to see Trier.

It is one of the oldest cities in Germany (some claim the oldest), and at one point was one of the capitals of the Roman Empire.

There was  a lot to see. I took over 200 pictures. LOL Let’s just say with Rick, Rebecca and me having cameras, we looked very much like tourists.

I have 60 pictures uploaded on facebook for those of you interested to see more. And notice the blue sky? We had wonderful weather there! Yesterday we went to see to the Sea of Rock. I will show you some pictures on Saturday. Today we are heading out to either Oppenheim (ferry ride over the Rhine, old church with basement full of skulls!) or to Mainz (another Dome and old Roman town).

Have a great day! Hugs and smiles

hohenzollern3.jpg

Yesterday we drove past Stuttgart into the beginning of the Schwaebische Alb.

We stopped at the Burg Hohenzollern. It’s Rick’s favorite castle. There was snow on the ground and Lucas and Rebecca went a little crazy. Rebecca couldn’t even remember snow and Lucas hadn’t seen it since he was 6.

After that we drove on to Schwenningen, a little town where we lived from 1997-2000. We spend the afternoon with our former neighbors. Good times, good times. Again….you can find more pictures on my facebook wall.

I will definitely have to go on a diet and do double workouts when I come back home. Too much good food here!

Today was a day of rest (thank goodness!). Tomorrow we will head out to Trier.

rothenburgtopview2.jpg

Yesterday we drove to Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

It was rainy and cold, but we braved it to show our kids this cool city.

The town center still has it’s medival town wall standing around it. You can walk on that wall.

We had a great time. You can see lots more picture on my facebook.

marksburg.jpg

Yesterday we drove to the Marksburg. It was cold and cloudy, but it just drizzled every now and then. No down pour like we were afraid off.

We had a wonderful time and took a tour of the castle. If you want to see more images, check my facebook profile. I shared more there.

On our way back we stopped at the Limburger Dom. That big old cathedrale was on top of the 500 Mark bill, back when Germany still had it’s own currency.

We don’t have our day tomorrow quite planned out yet. But I will share more pictures if we go somewhere.

Sunday we will drive down to the Schwaebische Alb and visit our old neighbors there. We will also check out another castle that is on our way.

Have a wonderful Saturday! Hugs and smiles

When we checked the weather forcast yesterday it said it would rain all the way to Texas. We were a bit worried. We got up at 5 a.m. and were on the road at six.

We were lucky. It rained on us only a few times. Of course we had to stop at the Orange, TX rest stop. It’s Johns tradition. We have several rest stops that we always visit while driving to Texas.

While at the rest stop in Orange, we saw a raccoon. I have never seen a raccoon in the wild before. We didn’t stay long, but Lucas had to climb on the star again!

We made really good time today and we in San Antonio at 7:00 p.m. sharp. It’s exactly 800 miles from our house to my in laws.

I have been up since 4:30 a.m. I am still not over the time change. I get up early and feel like it’s after midnight at 8 p.m.

Well….I got caught up with my personal emails and pm’s, but when I checked my help emails from SCS, I found 200 waiting there for me to work on. I am stressing out badly. I got 60 done so far.

I updated the Sale page. Go and check it out. I added Mini catalog sets that won’t be sold in the new catalog. If you have reserved a set for sale in the last few weeks, now is the time to send payment, so I can send the set out on the first. Please contact me.

I don’t think I will get any stamping done today either. I can’t create with all that work sitting there waiting for me.

So to post something fun from our vacation. I will show you some pictures of our trip to the Felsenmeer. It’s located in the Odenwald, only 40 minutes from my Mom’s house. The kids and I go there everytime we visit. We only made it up half way….I wussed out. My Mom came with us. The walk way next to the rocks was slippery and she already had 2 hip replacements. I was scared for her on the steep way down. That’s the only reason. No, it was not because I am out of shape. LOL

Basically it’s just a BIG hill filled with huge rocks. It’s a blast to climb up on those. This picture is the first view you get once you approach the hill from the parking lot. Click on more to see some more pictures.
