Besides being World Card Making Day today is also the first day of Splitcoaststampers third annual Hope You Can Cling To (HYCCT)  event. The entire month of October we will have new HYCCT challenges. Each card made for these challenges will be mailed to the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Today three challenges are posted to kick off the event. One by Lydia, one by Lori and one by me. My challenge is called Ray of Hope. Create a card with mostly in gray with a splash of color. For my sample I stamped a flower from MFT’s IB Flowers 4 inTuxedo Black Memento Ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock the image was cut with the Tag You’re It Die-namics die. A border was stamped with the matching Tag You’re It stamp set in Jet Black Archival ink.  The image was colored with Spectrum Markers (IG1, IG2, IG4, IG6, IG8, PP1, PP3, PP5),

A piece of KaiserCraft After Five Collection (came already cut in that shape) was adhered under a 2 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Bo Bunny Enchanted patterned paper on the card base, a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Solar White cardstock. The bottom corners of the card were rounded.  Three black Rhinestones were added to the upper right hand side of the card.

The tag was layered on a slightly bigger hand cut black cardstock before White ribbon was tied to it with a button and embroidery thread. It was adhered to the card front with foam adhesive squares.

I hope you have time to participate in the Hope You Can Cling To challenges and create some card for the cancer center patients.

Have a wonderful day!

Today’s Timeless Tuesday Challenge hostess is Cindy Haffner. Her challenge to us is to create something with a butterfly. It can be a die cut, patterned paper with butterflies, embellishment or stamped image. I pulled out Butterflies & Blossoms, one of my favorite Flourishes set along with some of my favorite Spellbinders die to create my sample.

I started by cutting a frame with the second largest Floral Oval Nestabilities and a Classic Oval die out of white cardstock. A piece of Bo Bunny Country Garden paper was cut and embossed with a slightly larger  Classic Oval die. The edges were sanded and a sentiment from Butterflies & Blossoms was stamped in it’s center with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. The oval was adhered behind the frame.

The smaller floral and butterfly image were stamped in Tuxedo Black Ink on white paper, colored with Copic Markers (Flowers: Y00, Y11, Y13, Y15, YR23, YR27, E37   Leaves: YG00, YG01, YG03, G46   Butterfly: Y17, YR15, YR18), cut out and adhered on the lower left and upper right of the frame.

Another piece of Country Garden paper was cut and embossed with a Grand Square Nestabilities die. The edges were sanded and stitched. A piece of Vellum cardstock was cut and embossed with a Lattice Motif die. Green May Arts Ribbon was threaded through the Vellum layer before it was adhered to the patterned paper square. The ribbon was tied into a bow and topped with a button before the sentiment layers were adhered over the Vellum Lattice die cut.

The layers were adhered to the card base, white cardstock cut and embossed with a Grand Scallop Square Nestabilities die. Parts of a rhinestone swirl on the top left and lower right finish off the card.

I hope you have time to play. Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

For my card today I used the adorable new Wee image called Goldie. Colleen Schaan had recently posted a gorgeously colored mermaid on her blog and I knew I wanted to try out the look and the colors she chose. So I stamped the image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock, cut and embossed it with a Classic Square Nestabilities die. die and colored it with Copic Markers (Skin: E000, BG000, B00   Dots: G14, G17, BG57   Scales: G12, G14, G17   Hair: B21, B24, B26, B29, G12, G15   Bubbles: YG000, G00). The image was stitched to a piece of Coordination cardstock, cut and embossed with a Scalloped Square Nestabilities die.

A piece of Bo Bunny Barefoot & Bliss patterned paper was cut and embossed with a  Grand Square Nestabilities die. The edges were sanded before Aqua May Arts Ribbon was tied around the paper. The layer was then adhered to the card base, a 4 9/16″ x  9 1/8″ piece of Solar White cardstock folded in half.

A sentiment from the new Ticket Notes was stamped in Tuxedo Black Ink on white cardstock, cut it out and colored it with Copic Markers BG000 and G12. It was tied on to the ribbon bow with embroidery thread and a button. Part of a Finesse Rhinestone Swirl was adhered over the bow, and part of a Fancy Waves Border Bling was added to the lower right corner to finish off the card.

Mona is our challenge hostess today. She asked us to use a fruit image on our project. I had to use the strawberry image. Ever since I can remember, on my birthday my Mom would make the first strawberry cake of the season. I continued this tradition (except for this year….I need to loose some pounds and that cake does not help with that.).

I stamped the big image of the Strawberries stamp set twice in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on white cardstock, colored it with Copic Markers (Strawberries YG03, R08, R24, R29, R39    Flowers: Y21, Y35, Y38, T0, T3   Leaves: YG01, YG03, YG17   Background: B0000, B000) and cut and embossed with a Standard Circle Nestabilities die. Part of one image was adhered on top of the other. The circle was adhered to a piece of white cardstock, cut and embossed with the largest Splendid Circles Nestabilities die.

Two pieces of Bo Bunny Country Garden Patterned Paper were cut and embossed with a Grand Rectangle Nestabilities die. The edges were sanded and stitched and May Arts Ribbon was tied around around the vertical strip. The layers were adhered to the card base, white cardstock cut and embossed with a Grand Label 23 die.

A sentiment from the Strawberries set was stamped in Tuxedo Black Ink on a piece of white cardstock cut and embossed with a die from the Home Sweet Home die pack. The embossed part was colored with Copic Markers B0000 and B000 before the tag was tied to the bow with embroidery thread and a button. Want2scrap bling finish off the card.

I have exciting news. Starting next week I will be on the Whiff of Joy Challenge Team. I love their images and am thrilled they are now one of Splitcoaststampers Member companies.

The current challenge is to create a card with Pins and Lace. For my sample I stamped the image from Christmas Light in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock. The image was cut and embossed with a Petite Oval Nestabilities die and colored with Copic Markers (Dress: R00, R11, R12, R14    Belt: E42, E43, E44     Wreath: G20, G21, G24, G28     Candle Holder: E31, E34, E37    Skin: E50, E51, E53, BV00    Hair: Y21, Y23, E97    Ground: W3, W5, W7, W9). The image was masked and the background was airbrushed with Copic Marker B45. I tried to match the colors for last weeks Color Challenge on SCS. The panel was stitched to a slightly bigger white oval.

A 3 3/4″ x 4 7/8″ piece of Bo Bunny Blitzen Collection paper was stitched to a piece of white cardstock, cut and embossed with the largest Lattice Rectangle Nestabilities die. On the left side a piece of May Arts Crochet lace was adhered through the lattice before May Arts Organdy Ribbon was tied over it. The bow was topped with a Basic Grey Button, tied on with embroidery thread. Two pearl pins were added behind the bow.

The edges of a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Blitzen paper were sanded and a border was stitched around the edge before the paper was adhered to the card base, a 4 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock, folded in half.

A sentiment from Season’s Greetings was stamped in Tuxedo Black ink on a piece of white cardstock, cut and embossed with a Classic Oval Nestabilities die. The center was airbrushed with Copic Marker E51. The edges of the sentiment panel were paper pierced before the sentiment was adhered to the upper right hand side of the image with dimensionals. Baby Bling Pearls under the sentiment finish off the card.

You still have a week to participate in the Whiff of Joy challenge. If you use Whiff of Joy Images, you might win a $25 credit voucher for Simon Says Stamp.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

For my sample I wanted to show a quick and easy gift idea with Taylor’s Tag You’re Are It! stamp set. I stamped the Penguin tag in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock. The image was cut out and colored with Copic Markers (YG61, YG63, R08, R27, R29, YR15).

A sour cream container was created with a 4 1/2″ x 5″ piece of Bo Bunny Blitzen paper. A bow was tied with gingham ribbon with the help of the Bow-Easy. Curling Ribbon was used to tie the tag to the bow and the bow to the container.

Here is a video on how to create a sour cream container for the visual learner:
