Last newsletter we ran Cami’s Trifold Card as “From the Archives” tutorial. Cambria Turnbow started using the slot punch from Stampin’ Up! years ago to hold folds from a trifold down…hence the name.

For my sample I chose Bella’s Ketto Phoebe image. My way of celebrating that Stamping Bella is back as a Member Company on Splitcoaststampers. I stamped the image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock, cut and embossed with a Standard Circle Nestabilities die and colored with Copic Markers (Skin: E50, E51, E53   Hair: C5, C7, C9   Wings: R000, R00   Dress: Y13, Y15, Y17    Hearts: YR07, R08, R27, R39   Leaves/grass: YG11, YG13, YG17   Background: B0000, B000). The image was adhered to a piece of back cardstock, cut and embossed with a Standard Scallop Circle Nestabilities die.

The trifold part was created out of a 5″ x 11 5/8″ piece of textured white cardstock. The strip was scored at  3 3/4″ and 7 1/2″ and the corners were rounded. A 3/8″ x 3 1/2″ piece of Echo Park Little Girl Patterned Paper was adhered to a 2 3/4″ x 3 1/2″ piece of paper from the same paper pack. The bottom corners were rounded and the edges were stitched before they were adhered to the card base.

A window was cut into the card front with a Standard Circle Nestabilities die and a frame cut with the same die and the second largest Beaded Circle Nestabilities die out of black cardstock. The frame was adhered over the window with dimensionals. Rhinestones from the 72 Count Rhinestone pack were added to the beaded circle frame and part of a Finesse Rhinestone Swirl was adhered to the upper right corner.

The slot punch (unfortunately retired now) was used on the lower part of the left edge and a brad from Stampin’ Up! was added over it. The layers were adhered to a 1/4″ bigger piece of black cardstock. A sentiment from the new Whimsy Stamp set Thank You Tabs was stamped in Jet Black Archival ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock, cut out and adhered to the next to the flower brad.

I recently shot a video for the Surprise Pop-Up Card tutorial and created this card as a sample. I used the darling Gertie from Stamping Bella’s Lulu Collection.

bellagertiesurprisepopupclo.jpg

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Real Red Cardstock folded in half. Two 3 3/4″ wide pieces of October Afternoon Paper (The Thrift Store and Report Card) were stitched to a 3 15/16″ x 5 3/16″ piece of Basic Black cardstock. After cutting the slider part, a strip of basic black cardstock was cut and embossed with Eyelet Borderabilities. The strip was cut into pieces that fit just over the slider parts and adhered. The strip that was adhered to the middle part only had adhesive on the part under the score line.

Gertie was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored with Copic Markers(R27, R20, BG72, BG75, BG78, E50, E51). It was cut out with Petite Oval Nestabilities. With the die  still on the cardstock, the oval was airbrushed with Copic Marker BG10.

Strawberry Hydrangea Prima Flowers were topped with a White Recollections Brad and adhered to the lower right corner of the slider with dimensionals.

When you pull up the slider, you find the sentiment of the card. It’s from the Flourishes set Humming Along. It was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

The inside of the card is decorated with The Thrift Store paper and another Hydrangea flower.

All my playing with MFT stamps got me hooked on cute images. I usually don’t think I am any good at cute cards, but they are so much fun! So I stamped Maisy Ketto with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Solar White Neenah Cardstock and colored her with Copic Markers ( C1, YR000, YR00, Y35, Y38, R27, R29, BG000, E19, E25, YG17, YG25). Originally I had tried to turn this into a magic card, but I didn’t like the way it looked, so I finished the card for Thursday’s Way to Use it Challenge.

The card base was cut out of Old Olive Textured Cardstock with Stampin’ Up!’s Big Shot Scalloped Square die. The edges of a 3 7/8″ square of October Afternoon Fly A Kite Paper were distressed. A 1 3/4″ wide strip of textured Real Red cardstock was adhered to square before it was stitched to a 4 1/8″ square of Basic Black cardstock.

A Scallop Square Frame was cut with Square Nestabilities. The edges of the image layer were sponged with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and paper pierced before the frame was adhered. Stardust and Orange Stickles were added to the image and Tiny Twinkles adhered to ther crown. A bow made out of 1/2″ wide olive Silk Ribbon was adhered to the top left of the frame with a red button on top.

I don’t have any Bella sentiments yet, so I used one from Verve’s Beautiful Kindness. It was stamped on a 1/2″ wide strip of Solar White cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. the edges were sponged with Tumbled Glass and the left edge was punched with my Photo Corner Punch (SU). It was attached to the lower right side of the frame. The flower was cut out of a Grunge Paper, that was covered with dictionary pages. The flower was colored with the yellow Copics I had used on the image. A red button was attached to the flower center with black waxed Linen thread.

The inside was decorated pretty simple. I just can’t leave card insides completely blank anymore. It seems unfinished.

I thought I could use yesterday’s Way to Use it Challenge to create a card for today’s sketch. Boy…that was a tough one! Julia challenged us to use purple on our card! Purple? Really? I don’t like purple…I wasn’t even sure I had any purple Designer paper. I checked my stash and found a few sheets with purple in my Basic Grey Euphoria pack.

I recently received my first order of Bella stamps, but hadn’t played with them yet. I picked the darling butterfly to try out first. It’s just so adorable. I stamped it with Tuxedo Black Ink on Neenah cardstockcut it out with Circle Nestabilities and colored it with Copic Markers (YG000, YGoo, YG21, YG23, YG25,RV02, RV04, Rv10, RV17, V15, V17). The image was then first layered on black cardstock, then on Purple Core’dinations cardstock. Stardust stickles was added to the pink dots and Tiny Twinkles on the bows on her antena.

I really like how my butterfly looks, but I am not so sure about the rest of the card. Oh well….I can’t love all of my cards, right?

The Core’dinations card base measures 4″ x 12″ and was folded it half. A 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Euphoria Paper was adhered to a 3 11/16″ x 5 11/16″ piece of Black cardstock and sewn together. The two wider strips measure 3/4″ x 4 3/4″, the smaller one 1/2″ x 4 3/4″. The thinner strip has a layer of punched black cardstock underneath (EK Success border punch).  I had these layer originally like the sketch, but the black border looked better on the right, so I switched it around.

To finish off the card I added three Kaiser Rhinestones on the top left  and a bow out of May Arts Polka dotted organdy ribbon underneath the butterfly.

I will have to try again to come up with a better card for the sketch. Have a wonderful day! Hugs and smiles
