I created this card for a color and sketch challenge on Splitcoast. I also wanted to try out the Eggshell Mosaic Background that was published a few weeks back.

My heart started as a piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock, cut with a Classic Heart Nestabilities die. I adhered egg shells with Multi Medium Matte Glue. Once the glue dried, I sprayed the shells with Perfect Pearls Glimmer Mist and added Alcohol Inks (Butterscotch, Sunset Orange, Wild Plum and Pool). More Perfect Pearls was sprayed and then the heart was set aside. Once it dried, another layer of Multi Medium glue was added, this time the glossy kind.

The card base is a 3 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Solar White cardstock, folded in half. The bottom corners were rounded. Marigold Tattered Angels Mist was sprayed in the center of the card front. Next a background script from My Favorite Things First Class Friend was stamped in Dandelion Memento Ink.

One of the little circle images was stamped in Jet Black Archival ink on white cardstock and punched out with a 3/4″ circle punch. The wavy part of the post mark was stamped on the left side of the card. The heart was adhered to the right hand side , the circle sentiment placed so hangs slightly off the left of the card, right over the postmark wave.

First class was stamped in Jet Black on white cardstock and cut out. Friend is part of a sentiment and was stamped to the left side. The First class was adhered slightly over it. A paper pierced row on the right next to the heart finish off the card.

Perfect Day Flap Card

I created this card at the end of November for a color challenge on Splitcoaststampers. The colors were White, Kraft and Pear Green. Having just received an order with Simple Stories Baby Steps Paper, I knew I wanted to use the green crosshatch patterned paper for it.

I started with a 3″ x 12″ strip of Kraft cardstock and scored it at 5 1/2″ and 11″. The corners of the 1″ flap were rounded. Adirondack Snowcap ink was dragged across the edges of the card front, flap and inside of the card.

A 2 1/2″ x 5″ piece of that cross hatched paper was adhered to a 1/4″ piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock. A 1 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ piece of the same paper pack was adhered over the green layers and the edges of the big layer were stitched. Part of a Paper Doily was adhered to the upper left hand side. Seam Binding was tied around the horizontal layer and topped with a Recollection Flower.

A piece of corrugated cardstock was painted with White Acrylic Paint Dabber , embossed with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder (Stampin’ Up!) and cut embossed with a Classic Heart Nestabilities die. The heart was adhered next to the bow and topped with part of a Finesse Rhinestone Swirl.

A sentiment from Elizabeth Bells’ Accessories and Sentiment collection was stamped in Rich Cocoa Memento ink on a piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock, cut and embossed with a Tag Trio die (retired). The inside of the tag was sponged with Antique Linen Distress ink. The tag was tied onto the bow with Linen Thread.

Butterscotch Waxed Ribbon was used to tie a tiny button to a 1/2″ Kraft circle. It was adhered underneath the flap. A bigger button was threaded with Linen thread and adhered on to the flap. I left Linen Thread hanging off the big button so I could use that to tie the flap card shut.

For the inside of the card a 1/2″ x 2 3/4″ strip of patterned paper was stitched to the lower edge of a 2 3/4″ x 4 3/4″ piece of white cardstock. A background stamp from the same set was stamped over the paper strip in Antique Linen. Three baby Bling Rhinestones on the right of the paper strip finish off the inside of the card.

Timeless Tuesday - Double Embossing

Mona is today’s challenge hostess. She asked us to use the Double Embossing Technique. That’s not an easy technique for me, just because it is geared towards CAS cards. Those are absolutely NOT my strength. LOL

For my sample I embossed my background with Provocrafts Brocade Embossing Folder. The opening were blocked with cardboard pieces cut with a Label 13 Nestabilities die. The snowman from Warm Winter Wishes was stamped in the “un-embossed” center with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and was colored with Copic Markers (R35, R37, R59, R39, G82, G94, G99, BG0000, E23, E25, E27, YR 21, YR23, YR24). I chose the colors for last weeks color challenge on Splitcoaststampers.

The outside of the layer was masked and the center sponged with Tumbled Glass Distress ink. The same ink was used to stamp snowflakes from Warm Winter wishes around the snowman.

Stardust Stickles was added to the snow on the ground and the extra snow on the snowman and its button were coated with Glossy Accents. A frame was cut and embossed out of Artichocke paper with Label 13 Nestabilities dies. The stamped layer was stitched to a slightly bigger Cherry Cobbler cardstock piece and the frame was attached over the image with dimensionals.

A sentiment from a soon to be released Sentimental Christmas stamp set was stamped in Tuxedo Black ink over a piece of cardstock, that had been cut and embossed with a die from the new Twisted Metal Tags & Accent die pack. The panel was sponged with Antique Linen and snowflakes were stamped over it in the same colors.

A strip of white cardstock was cut and embossed with the Snowflake Borderabilities dies. The snowflakes from that border were sponged with Vintage photo Distress ink and adhered to the card base with dimensionals. They were topped with Want2Scrap Rhinestones.

A bow was tied out of May Arts Organdy Ribbon, topped with a Recollections Rhinestone brad and adhered under the sentiment panel. Last everything was adhered to the card base, a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Kraft cardstock folded in half.

We are back home in Ohio. Ohio greeted us with a horrible rain storm and of course….gray skies. It was WONDERFUL to lay at the white beach at Destin, staring at turquoise water and blue skies. I miss living there a lot! Hopefully Oklahoma City will be nicer to us then the Ohio weather is. I miss seeing blue skies every day. Two more month…

I created a card this morning for yesterday’s Clean and Simple Rule of Third challenge as well as today’s Color challenge Certainly Bashful Breezes.

I started by stamping the thank you sentiment and double butterfly image from Crafty Secrets Sew Special in Rich Cocoa Memento ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock, that had been cut and embossed with a Classic Circle Nestabilities die. The image was colored with Copic Markers (Butterflies: YR21, 1/5th YR31, YG21, YG23, 2/3rd BG72, BG72, BG75 Background: B0000, B000). The layer was stitched on a piece of Canyon Brown cardstock, cut and embossed with one of the new Floral Motif Spellbinders dies.

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Solar White cardstock folded in half. The bottom corners were rounded with my Corner Chomper.

A 1 3/4″ x 4″ piece of Early Bird Cosmo Cricket Paper strip was stitched to a 4″ square of the same paper pack. The bottom corners were rounded and May Arts Organdy ribbon was tied around the strip before the layers were adhered to the card base.

The image layer was adhered to the card with dimensionals. Stardust Stickles over the the butterflies and a Recollections Pearl swirl finish off the card.

The new Flourishes set Lenten Rose is so beautiful! I had to use it when I saw the color challenge on Splitcoast this week: Regal Rose, So Saffron, Pear Pizzaz. I combined with the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge, which was to use Masking on your card.

I started out by stamping the bigger image of that set twice in opposite corners of a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I cut out the inner leaves and petals with a hobby knife so I could use the Out of the Box technique with a Petite Oval Nestabilities die.

The flowers were colored with Copic Markers (R20, R21, R43, R46, YG03, YG25, YG67, E97, E99, E09, E18, 1/5th YR31, YR31), then masked with Eclipse Tape. The blank spots on the paper were stamped with a sentiment from Butterflies & Blossoms in Scattered Straw Distress ink. Then the edges of the paper were first sponged in Scattered Straw, then just a hint of Vintage Photo.

A piece of Really Rust cardstock was cut with the next smaller Oval die and the edges were colored with Copic Marker E09 to match the flowers. A sentiment from Flourishes Life Lines was stamped in Rich Cocoa Memento Ink on a piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock. It was sponged with Scattered Straw ink and adhered behind the oval window. The edges of the inner oval were paper pierced.

The layers were stitched to a 3/16″ bigger piece of Solar White cardstock before all the layers were adhered to a 5 3/4″ x 9″ piece of Really Rust cardstock folded in half. Again the outer edges of the card front had been colored with Copic Marker E09 to match the flower centers.

To finish off the card parts of a Zva Creative Rhinestone swirl were adhered around the outer edges of the oval window. Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day.
