Here is another card made for the sketch this weekend, as well as the Color Challenge from last Tuesday on SCS.

I love how this came out. I started out making it a baby card, but then I changed it to one for a girlfriend. Now that my So many Sayings are unmounted, it is becoming one of my favorite sets.

If I only had the courage to cut up my Happiness set like that. Maybe next weeks. Baby steps. I feel like I am mutilating the stamps when I keep them unmounted.

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Groovy Guava cardstock, layered with a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Basic black cardstock and a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Soft Sky Prints Designer paper. The corner of the black cardstock and the designer paper were punched with ticket corner punch.

The black photo corner was punched out with the Photo corner punch and silver brads were added. Then I doodled a border all around the Soft Sky Paper.

I punched two circles with my 1 1/4″ circle punch out of Shimmery white cardstock. I used the dotted background stamp from the Three For You Punch Kit in Groovy Guava to add the pattern and layered it on 1 3/8″ black circles. I layered those on a Groovy Guava scallop circle and a regular circle out of the same color. Last I doodled a border matching the border on the designer paper on the circles.

For my horizontal strips, I took a 1 1/4″ x 3 3/4″ piece of Basic Black cardstock. I added the scallop border with my corner rounder punch and punched out the holes with my Crop-a-dile. On top of that I layered a 1″ x 3 3/4″ strip of shimmery white and last a strip of ribbon from the Sherbert Ribbon Originals pack.

I stamped the giraffe from Wild About You on 1 7/8″ x 3″ piece of Shimmery White cardstock in Groovy Guava and outlined it with my black 03Micron pen. Micron pens are my favorite to doodle with. I punched the corners with the ticket corner punch and doodled a border around the outer edges of the image. The next layer was a 2 1/8″ x 3 1/4″ piece of Basic Black cardstock. I added silver brads in each corner, punched a slot with the horizontal slot punch and added Groovy Guava double stitched ribbon to the upper ride side.

The saying from So Many Sayings was stamped in black on Shimmery White cardstock, punched out with the small oval punch and topped with a small oval frame from the Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware kit.

Last I punched Groovy Guava and Soft Sky flowers with my Three For You Punch, layered them on my circles and topped them off with black vintage brads.

  1. I absolutely LOVE this!!! Great colors, cute card!

  2. Very cute! I love this layout!

  3. I have a question please. Is it easier to cut the So Many Sayings stamp apart and use it that way then to use a marker and only ink the part that you want? I don’t have this set, but there are lots of stamps that I only ink up part of the stamp to use. Just wondering what the difference is. Thanks! Renee

  4. Such an adorable card, Beate! Love the colors and the layout is, again, wonderful!

  14. Awesome card I love it.

Is it ok to use the sketch for a scrap page?

  15. Wow, this is cute! I love So Many Sayings and have been using it a lot. That’s a good idea to cut it apart. So much easier–dang!

  16. I really like this card. The image is just great!

  17. I had my fiance’ cut the blocks for the So Many Sayings each into 3 pieces. I then mounted a saying on all 4 sides. I thought it would be a waste to mount them like SU wanted. I usually keep all of my sayings even if they retire, so I am not worried about mutilating them!

  18. Well this is just stunning. Love the colors and such a beautiful layout. Love all the details. 🙂

  19. This is so cute, Beate! I love the papers and all the doodling! The hardware and those little flowers are awesome additions your your adorable design. Love it!

  22. I am curious about cutting and unmounting the stamp sets. I am also contemplating unmounting the wheels and using the EZ mount as I have read about on SCS. This sounds like a great space saving idea and although I’m afraid to admit it, my storage space is quickly running out and I’m not ready to part with any sets yet (even though i haven’t even come close to using them all). How do you have them stored after cutting and unmounting them and do you add the EZ Mount all of them. If I’m understanding everything I’ve been reading, lining several words up on the acrylic block would be so much better than trying to use the Stamp a ma jig to line everything up.

I follow your blog daily and am always amazed by your talent. I’m not much of an artist, but I’m trying to make cards that make me happy. After all that’s what it’s all about, right? I look forward to your feedback.
