Yesterday’s sketch challenge was this great layout:

sc140.jpg

I knew I wanted to use the set Star-Studded Season from the Holiday Mini catalog. I got the set for the beautiful sayings and haven’t used it yet. The star is just sooo solid. The only good thing about that is that fact makes it perfect to use for the kissing technique.

I also knew I wanted to use the striped paper from the Holiday Harmony Designer paper. I love the way it looks. So I took my colors from the paper, started with my main image and worked my way out.

star-studded-season-sc140-r.jpg

I inked up the star in River Rock ink, set it on the table wood side down and stamped the swirl from Priceless on the inked up rubber in Chocolate Chip. Then I ran my Chocolate Chip Marker around the edges, huffed on the rubber and stamped the image on Very Vanilla Cardstock.

The image was cut out, the edges sponged with River Rock and a tad of Chocolate Chip and layered first on Always Artichocke, then Chocolate Chip cardstock.  I added Dazzling Diamond Glitter over the swirls with help of my Sakura Glue Pen.

The striped paper measures 3 1/2″ x 3 3/4″ and was punched on each corner with the ticket corner punch. I added the Priceless swirl to the top right and bottom left in Chocolate Chip ink.

The next layer is a 1/4″ bigger piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. I sponged the edges first with River Rock, then with Chocolate Chip.  Then I distressed the edges with the Cutter Kit,  punched the corners with the ticket corner punch, taped the Designer paper on it and added Faux Stitching with my All in a Row Argyle stamp  and Chocolate Chip ink.  Two  pieces of River Rock double stitched ribbon were run around both layers and tied in a knot. The knots were offset a bit on purpose and a Antique Brass ribbon buckle was added to the lower knot.

Both layers were taped to a 4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Chocolate Chip and Antique Brass brads were added in each of the four corners.

The greeting is from Star-Studded Season as well. I stamped it in Chocolate Chip on Very Vanilla cardstock, punched the corners and sponged the edges first with River Rock, then with Chocolate Chip ink. I layered it on Always Artichoke and Chocolate Chip cardstock, added more Antique Brass Hodgepodge Hardware and a bit of Chocolate Taffeta ribbon.

Personal Note: I won’t be able to move back to San Antonio for the year Rick will be gone. It’s not considered a deployment, but a one year TDY and he won’t get a follow on assignment right after that. Definitely not what I was hoping for!

  26. YOu know, I’ve been visiting for the beautiful, Beee-YOU-tee-full cards but then, all of a sudden, with your husband’s deployment, you became a real person. I am so sorry to hear about your stage of life right now. Remember that you have so many, many fans and friends that will be around to help you handle the “single mom” life. Feel free to blog non-card stuff! Like all those times you want to scream and feed the kids a bowl of popcorn for dinner!
I will be sending you good thoughts.

By the way, I really love your style – I aspire to it and can never get there!
