I was excited to see the technique lover challenge on Monday. I hadn’t made one of these boxes yet! I knew I wanted to use this challenge to get ready for Halloween. This will be Rebecca’s teacher gift. I have neglected her and haven’t given her any gifts yet. That’s just not right.

I started with a 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of cardstock and scored it just as the tutorial says.

I didn’t make a flap though. I cut that part off.

Then I cut the cardstock down a little bit more to 7 1/2″ x 11″.

I added 1 3/4″ x 3 5/8″ and  2 3/4″ x 3 5/8″ pieces of Creepy Crawly Designer paper that were ticket corner punched to each side. The sides of the designer paper were faux stitched with All in a Row.

I taped the box together with Sticky Strip and added a 7/8″ x 11″ piece of Old Olive cardstock as handle. I had stamped that cardstock with the greeting Happy Halloween on both sides and added Faux Stitching with All in a Row on the top layer. The handle was secured with two Antique Brass Jumbo eyelets.

For the center image I started with a 1 3/4″ x 2 1/4″ piece of Shimmery white cardstock. I sponged Old Olive on the bottom and Not Quite Navy on the top with sponge daubers. Then I layered it on a 2″ x 2 1/2″ piece of Pumpkin Pie and a 1/4″ bigger Basic Black cardstock piece. I stamped my Argyle stamp from All in a Row to add Faux Stitching between the Shimmery White and the Pumpkin Pie layers.

The center images were stamped on Shimmery White cardstock, outlined the pumpkins with my 03black Micron pen, cut them out and adhered them to my sponged layer.

The cardbase is a 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Basic Black cardstock folded in half, followed by a 4″ piece of Pumpkin Pie . The Creepy Crawly Designer paper measures 2 1/4″ x 4″. I used the ticket corner punch on the bottom two corners.

The main panel is a 2 1/2″ x 2 3/4″ sponged Shimmery White cardstock piece layered on a 1/4″ bigger Basic Black panel. The cat is stamped on Shimmery White cardstock on Black Stazon and cut out.

The sponged Old Olive Strip measures 7/8″ x 4″ and has Happy Halloween stamped in Black Stazon on it. I offset the saying a bit to add three black brads on the left hand side and only one on the right.
