Okay…I am not sure how it happened, but I am behind again on challenges. It seems to be almost normal for me. I really like them though. They stretch my comfort zone and help me grow as a stamper.

Since I missed the Color Challenge and Sketch challenge this week, I combined both with today’s Way to use it challenge and made a triple challenge card.

The sketch was easy enough. I like easy sketches.

The color combo was Apricot Appeal, Rose Red and Sage Shadow. I couldn’t help myself and added Black in there to punch it up a notch.

Today’s Way to use it challenge was easy to. Anything with embossing. It seems I have been embossing a lot more then regular lately anyway.

First I started thinking about which of my new sets I could use for the main panel.

I have been itching to use the Pretty Amazing set, so I quickly decided on that one.

I know coloring images isn’t one of my strength. I am trying to improve that, by not shying away from images that have to be colored.

I stamped the hummingbird on Whisper White with Black StazOn ink. After it was dry I went over it twice with my Apricot Appeal Marker. Then I added Rose Red from my Classic ink pad with my Aqua Painter. I cut the bird out, inked the entire image with VersaMark and embossed it with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder.

Next I needed a flower. I inked up the flower image first with VersaMark, then with Rose Red regular ink and stamped it on Whisper White cardstock. I then embossed the entire image with clear embossing powder. I repeated the same thing two more times so I had three embossed flowers. Next I cut my first flower all way around, the second flower partly and the third flower only the inside flower. I layered all three on top of each other and added an Ice circle Rhinestone brad in it’s center.

(I had tried to stamp the flower with my Rose Red Craft ink. First my ink pad wasn’t wet enough and the image looked blotchy. After reinking my pad, I couldn’t see the fine detail lines inside the flower anymore. Hence the VersaMark/Classic ink inking of the stamp.)

The rest of the card is super easy. The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Basic Black Cardstock folded in half. The bottom corners are rounded with the corner rounder. The next layer is a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Apricot Appeal. AGain the bottom corners were rounded. The Rose Red layer measures 3″ x 3 3/4″. It is wheeled with the new Jumbo wheel “It’s Beautiful” and sponged on the edges. I think the new background Pretty Petals would have been more perfect for it, but I don’t own that yet.

I taped the Rose Red layer on top of the Apricot cardstock and tied the new striped Pumpkin Pie ribbon around it.

The Sage Shadow layer is a 2 1/2″ x 3 1/4″ piece of Outlaw Designer Paper. I sanded the edges of the paper with my sanding block, layered it on a Basic Black Nestabilities die cut and paper pierced a border. I stamped the leaf branch on the bottom in Sage Shadow to make it my flower stem and taped everything together.

  4. Hi Beate! I do now know what it is about this card. But you know when you see a card and it is quite simple, but for some reason, you stare and stare at it. I have been looking at this card for 5 min. now, studying it. Reading everything concerning how you made it. I don’t know why this card is “speaking to me”….but it is! LOL! I just really love it! I am going to try and case it with some different stamps, since I don’t own this set. I am so loving that ribbon and you have just enabled me….I am buying this ribbon and I actually had no intention of doing so. It looks so fabulous. Great job. You are so creative, it blows me away. I think this confirms it. You are my all time favorite stamper.
