The Buck Stamps Here.

Thank you to everyone who tried out the sketch! You guys created some amazing cards. When I was not dancing, mothering my children or reading last weekend I had a blast checking them out.

Hugs and smiles

I am sorry I have been so quiet.

The kids had Friday and Monday off and we enjoyed a long, fun weekend. Because I spend a lot of time with our new favorite pasttime DDR , as we dance nerds call it, or Dance Dance Revolution, I didn’t stamp at all since Friday.

Besides dancing and the regular household and SCS chores, I took care of Lucas, who had a sore throat (but is better now) and read two of my boys books. Today I made cookies to make their first day of school sweeter. A little tradition in our house.

If you have boys ages 10 and up that like adventure and quest books, you should definitely check these books out.

Hopefully I get to stamp tonight. If not tonight, then definitely tomorrow. My friend and downline Stephanie is coming over. From Thursday on I will be taking care of  Rebecca. Her gum graft will be done Thursday morning! YIKES!!!

scrapbook-austin-buried-in.jpg

Austin loves to dig himself a big hole and to be buried in it with just his head sticking out.

A friend of ours took this picture last July.

Rick kept on adding more sand while I gave Austin some of my precious diet coke. LOL

Another page of Rick’s book to remind him of our great times at the beach.

Like last week this page has a 6″ x 6″ piece of textured Soft Sky cardstock as it’s base an a 3 1/2″ x 5 3/4″ piece of Bali Designer paper with a 3/8″ strip of paper pierced Whisper White layered over it.

The photo is cut down to 4″ x 5″ and first layered on a 1/4″ bigger piece of Always Artichoke, then a 1/4″ bigger piece of Chocolate Chip.

I added a large, sponged Chocolate Chip Photo Corner on the bottom right with five silver brads topping it off.

I used markers to ink up the sentiment from A Beautiful Thing, punched it out with the large oval punch, layered it first on a 1 1/4″ paper pierced Chocolate Chip circle and then a 1 3/8″ Always Artichoke circle.

The flower is also from A Beautiful Thing and inked up with Chocolate Chip and Tempting Turquoise. It’s punched out with the Three for you punch.

Sandy Allnock was my WSC 28 winner and send me this fun and sparkly card.

You can see more of her work on her blog It’s a Colourful World.

Thank you Sandy!

This is the card I made for this weekend’s sketch challenge. Since I already had a sample that followed the sketch, I thought I could stray a little.

define-your-life-boho-kind.jpg

I started with stamping the sentiment from Define your Life in Black Stazon on a Shimmery White Nestabilities oval that I had laying around and layered that on a black Nestabilities scallop oval.

I stamped the One of a Kind triple flower in Pumpkin Pie and Purely Pomegranate on Shimmery white, punched them out with the matching Boho Flower Punch and added three of those flowers around the sentiment. I added black vintage brads in the center of the smaller flowers, and an Ice circle Rhinestone brad in the bigger flower.

My card base is a 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of black cardstock folded in half. The next layer is a 4″ square of Wild Wasabi cardstock. I paper pierced the right edge. The 1 3/8″ x 4″ strip of Purely Pomegranate was stamped with a background from Boho Backgrounds and taped right next to the paper pierced edge.

I stamped the One of a Kind sentiment in Black Stazon on Shimmery White, punched it out with the small oval punch and layered it on a sponged 1″ Pumpkin Pie circle and then on a black designer label punchout. Under the left hand side of the designer label I punched a hole and ran my Striped Pumpkin Pie ribbon through. I love that new ribbon.

Last I added  three 1/2″ black circles on the top right of the Pomegranate strip, followed by 1/4″ Pumpkin Pie circles and three black brads.

To participate in the challenge and be entered in the  raffle, make a card with this layout and upload it either to your blog, or to an online gallery.

If you upload your card on SCS, put WSC31  (NO SPACE INBETWEEN WSC AND 31) in the keyword section. That way we can look at all of them at once!

Post a link to your card to this blog entry as a comment. Please add your entry# to it.

I will determine the winner  with Random.org on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.

My inspiration for the sketch is this card I made a year ago:

So there….my rubber and paper addiction is openly displayed for the world to see.

Okay…I am not sure how it happened, but I am behind again on challenges. It seems to be almost normal for me. I really like them though. They stretch my comfort zone and help me grow as a stamper.

Since I missed the Color Challenge and Sketch challenge this week, I combined both with today’s Way to use it challenge and made a triple challenge card.

sc159.jpg

The sketch was easy enough. I like easy sketches.

The color combo was Apricot Appeal, Rose Red and Sage Shadow. I couldn’t help myself and added Black in there to punch it up a notch.

Today’s Way to use it challenge was easy to. Anything with embossing. It seems I have been embossing a lot more then regular lately anyway.

pretty-amazing-sparkling-hu.jpg

First I started thinking about which of my new sets I could use for the main panel.

I have been itching to use the Pretty Amazing set, so I quickly decided on that one.

I know coloring images isn’t one of my strength. I am trying to improve that, by not shying away from images that have to be colored.

I stamped the hummingbird on Whisper White with Black StazOn ink. After it was dry I went over it twice with my Apricot Appeal Marker. Then I added Rose Red from my Classic ink pad with my Aqua Painter. I cut the bird out, inked the entire image with VersaMark and embossed it with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder.

Next I needed a flower. I inked up the flower image first with VersaMark, then with Rose Red regular ink and stamped it on Whisper White cardstock. I then embossed the entire image with clear embossing powder. I repeated the same thing two more times so I had three embossed flowers. Next I cut my first flower all way around, the second flower partly and the third flower only the inside flower. I layered all three on top of each other and added an Ice circle Rhinestone brad in it’s center.

(I had tried to stamp the flower with my Rose Red Craft ink. First my ink pad wasn’t wet enough and the image looked blotchy. After reinking my pad, I couldn’t see the fine detail lines inside the flower anymore. Hence the VersaMark/Classic ink inking of the stamp.)

The rest of the card is super easy. The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Basic Black Cardstock folded in half. The bottom corners are rounded with the corner rounder. The next layer is a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Apricot Appeal. AGain the bottom corners were rounded. The Rose Red layer measures 3″ x 3 3/4″. It is wheeled with the new Jumbo wheel “It’s Beautiful” and sponged on the edges. I think the new background Pretty Petals would have been more perfect for it, but I don’t own that yet.

I taped the Rose Red layer on top of the Apricot cardstock and tied the new striped Pumpkin Pie ribbon around it.

The Sage Shadow layer is a 2 1/2″ x 3 1/4″ piece of Outlaw Designer Paper. I sanded the edges of the paper with my sanding block, layered it on a Basic Black Nestabilities die cut and paper pierced a border. I stamped the leaf branch on the bottom in Sage Shadow to make it my flower stem and taped everything together.
