always-thumped-and-dry-embo.jpg

This card definitely doesn’t look like my usual cards.

After checking out the forums last Sunday, I found a thread about using the cuttlebug folders only partially.

I had seen it before and even played with it, but I have never made a card like it. So I tried it out.

The horizontal stripes are dry embossed with my Scor-Pal. After owning it for  quite a while now, I have to tell you that I think it is a must have tool. It makes scoring so easy and projects that need scored lines a breeze.

I used the Swiss Dots Embossing folder on the top and the bottom of a 4″ Whisper White cardstock. Over the dots I scored two lines 1/4″ apart with the Scor-Pal.

The stamps are from Always. I inked up the branch first with Old Olive ink, then added extra ink with my Ruby Red marker. The ribbon is the new Olive Poly-Twill ribbon from the Occasional Mini catalog .

So what do you think? Is it too bland!

The card is pure and lovely, just like the sentiment. I can’t find dotted swiss in stock on line anywhere and NO shopping options in Haiti. Any ideas anyone?

  72. Well, with 72 comments already, does THAT answer your question??!!! LOL. IMO, I think it’s very lovely and after putting so much work into most of your cards, doésn’t it feel great to do a very simple card and have it turn out sweet?! I would feel so good about this one. It’s fabulous, especially with those swiss dots! 😀

  73. Do you sleep at night or are you some sort of super human stamping cyborg who stays up all hours of the night making us green with envy with your wicked awesome stamping abilities? Hmmmm? Even you’re simplest cards look 10 times nicer than mine! LOL! I love it!

    Beedubya

  74. Beata, this cars is gorgeous just as it is- no piercing, no layers, no problem! I love it!

  75. I think it is clean and very attractive. But I know what you mean. I see this card on your blog, or other clean and simple cards on other blogs and think they are so pretty. And then I try to case them, or come up with my own simple card and I sit there and frown at it feeling like it needs something.

  76. I think is wonderful!!! It’s simple and elegant and the sentiment is great. I love the way you made a simple layer of paper look that great, I had to look it twice to realize it has only one layer!!! One again, you did an awesome job.

  77. I love it! It’s elegant and simple and clean. It’s the kind of card I would make.

  88. Just love this card. Very pretty. Just got the dots Embossing Folder- can’t wait to play with it now.

  89. As you can tell from all the replies, we all love the card! To tell you the truth I am a bit tired of all the layers and embellishments used on cards anymore. I get discouraged when it takes me a couple of hours just to do one card. With working full-time I don’t have that much time to devote to one card. I am definitely starting to go back to my roots in stamping. I am leaning more towards direct-to-paper and some matting with a little ribbon and stardust pen accents. I sure hope that the trend will start going back to simple! You sure have my support.

  90. So…. are you going to tell us Cuttlebug owners how to emboss on only part of the card? Or where the forum is that you saw it? PLEEAASE!
Your card is gorgeuos just the way it is!
    THANKS…..

  91. I love this look. I think it has an elegance that speaks for itself. Not bland at all, it’s beautiful.

  110. I love it–don’t think it’s too simple at all!

  111. No, it’s not your usual style, but it’s still a great card. I think it’s very classy looking. Think “simple elegance”. Thanks so much for the tutorial on partially using the embossing folder. I hadn’t thought of that. I managed to get the Swiss Dot before my Hobby Lobby sold out, so I’ll have to try that one tonight! Thanks again.

  112. No, not too bland at all! Just clean and streamlined, and making a simple card that’s just right is difficult, but you managed to do just that! I really how this turned out and I’m thinking I’d like to try my on version with a SU! embossing template instead of the embossing plate (which I don’t own).

Great job stepping out of your usual style!
    Cindy 🙂
