Today’s tutorial on SCS is a spin on a basic technique: Striped Baby Wipe. I called it Striped Wipe for short.

inspiredbynaturestripedwipe.jpgthat I shouldn’t show.

For my sample I used Riding Hood Red, Tangerine Tango and Pacific Point reinker.

I added stripes of these reinkers on my folded baby wipe and swiped it over my 3 7/8″ glossy white cardstock square.

The grass from Inspired by Nature was stamped in (are you ready for it…are you sitting down) Eggplant Envy! No…I felt fine, but my friend Cheryl dared me to. And guess what? I think I like the dark purple on this card.

The glossy cardstock was layered on a 4 1/4″ square of Eggplant Envy cardstock and the edges were paper pierced. Riding Hood Red Taffeta Ribbon was tied around the bottom.

For the sentiment I stamped one of the sentiments from Inspired by Nature set in Eggplant Envy on Whisper White cardstock and punched it out with the new wide oval punch. That was layered on a 1 3/4″ Pacific Point circle. The Eggplant tab on each side was made by punching a label with the Designer label punch, cutting it in half and taping one half on each side of the Pacific circle.  (I saw this layering somewhere and I can’t remember who did it. I apologize for that!)

I added a large Filigree Designer Brad to the top left of the sentiment layers and attached it with a Ruby Red Brad. The sentiment layers were attached to the image layers with dimensionals. Then I adhered the image layers with dimensionals to the 5″ square Tangerine Tango card base. Last I added a dotted border with the white gel pen to the card base.

I made a card for another variation of this technique. Unfortunately there is something like TOO MUCH KIWI. So…if you are brave enough to check out the card LOL….click on more:

I feel really daring showing you one of the cards that I usually wouldn’t show. LOL

I do like how the background came out, but I could not make it look quite right. I tried all of the colors I used as card base.

For this background I folded the baby wipe in triangles, added the ink refill and then twisted the baby wipe. Next I unfolded the baby wipe and pressed it down to the glossy cardstock for a Batik/Tie dye look.

Okay…enough staling. Here is my “There is a Thing as too much Kiwi card”:

  14. Cool technique! I actually like the tie-dye look very much! Not too green for me, but then again, I do love green… The pop of red is very nice. 🙂

Love how you highlighted the Hi with the circle punch, too. Can’t do that with the “bonjour” (French version), but I did use my Word Window punch to use only that word on my Club project for tonight. (To be posted on my blog later.)

    TFS!

  37. Beate, thanks for going to all the trouble of publishing your tutorials for us! they are awesome- YOU are awesome! I actually tried this tutorial yesterday (twice)as soon as I saw it and I LOVE it. What a neat look- I am so glad you showed me how to do this. I will try it again and again.

  38. Ohh I really like the “too much kiwi card” It’s so bright and cheery. What if you used a white ribbon instead? Would that tone it down so you liked it better? Love the background technique… waiting for some reinkers….
    TFS!
