Yesterday’s Limited Supply challenge was called Rock, Paper, Scissors.
Rock = For Embellishments we were only allowed Hardware, pearls or rhinestones.
Paper = Designer paper and regular paper, bonus point for metallic paper
Scissors = Only decorative scissors, scissors or paper cutter / no die cut machines or punches

We were allowed to use coloring tools. I knew I wanted to make a more elegant/vintage card. That is not so easy if you are trying to use Stampin’ Up! images. Where did all those vintage stamp sets go. I miss them.

kindthoughtsridinghoodroman.jpg

I started out with a 3″ x 4″ piece of Shimmery White cardstock.

The big swirl from Kind Thoughts was stamped on it with Brown Palette Ink and then colored in with Riding Hood Red ink and Aqua Painter.

The image was cut up horizontally in 3/4″, 1 1/2″ and another 3/4″ strip. Then I cut those in 3/4″, 2 1/2″ and more 3/4″ wide pieces. Those pieces were adhered to a 3 3/8″ x 4 3/8″ piece of Chocolate chip cardstock and a 1/4″ bigger piece of Red Riding Hood. The tiles still looked too blank so I added dotted borders to each tile with my Chocolate Chip marker. I would have paper pierced, but I wasn’t sure if that was against the challenge rule.

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 10 1/2″ piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock folded in half, topped by a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Bella Rose Designer Paper. The image layers were adhere to the base.

Next I inked up the butterfly from that set with Riding Hood Red ink, added Chocolate around the edges and inside the swirls with my Chocolate marker, stamped it on Shimmery White and cut it out with my paper snips. I added Multi Purpose Adhesive under the butterfly body and propped the wings up with dimensionals.

The sentiment is also from Kind Thoughts. It was stamped on 1/2″ x 2 3/4″ piece of Shimmery White cardstock and layered on a slightly bigger piece of Chocolate Chip. I added my faux paper piercing/dots on the bottom right of the strip and centered a small pink Circle Rhinestone brad in that corner. On the top right corner I added a stamped and cut out flower that has a slightly bigger pink rhinestone brad in it’s center. The sentiment as well as the flower were attached with dimensionals.

Now if it wouldn’t have made this card for the limited supply challenge, I would have probably embossed my faux tiles with clear embossing powder several times. My butterfly would surely have had some glitter on it. But I even like it without all the extra steps.

Have a wonderful day! Hugs and smiles
