Happy New Year Beate! I have done some recycling of craft items and stamps to the preschool my nephews went to. I have 2 more years before the next one goes, but have started another box to take out there soon!! Thanks for the chance to win 🙂
I’m a collector of stamp sets and dies. They are never outdated for me. Love them all even if I don’t use them. I will someday.

Happy New Year Beate! I tend to keep my older stuff and know I should not. I did get rid of some of the bigger stuff just a couple of weeks ago which made me very proud of myself. It felt so good so maybe I will do more of it!

First I offer stamp set or in one instance old die cutting machine (lever-remember) to friends then if they don’t want or need I bring to my stamping class and offer it there. purging is good sometimes.

What a fun hop idea! I purge as I don’t have room too keep everything. I bless my goodies with teachers/staff I work with, daycares and anyone else who can use it. I would rather bless someone with it than trying to sell it and keep track of shipping etc when possible.

I confess – I keep everything. Well, except when I got Big Shot I gave my Cuttlebug to my oldest grand daughter with a couple folders.
I dont think I have enough to retire any yet, but I do use just about everything I have. When I thnk of what I want to do I grab the stamps, etc. , and put them on my craft desk so I dont forget before I make the time to spend having fun.
I am embarrassed to admit I’m a stamp and die hoarder!! I keep everything!! I know I should purge but I just can’t seem to let go of them :/ I need to do some serious de-cluttering in my craft room…maybe a new year resolution??!!

Honestly, I don’t have a lot of old supplies, but when I do some I give away and others I sell.
Happy New Year Beate and thanks for the generous giveaway. I am getting better at purging from my stash. I usually go to a few weekend crops throughout the year and we’ve started setting up a “recycle” table and a yard sale table to help find our unwanted goodies new homes. I hate to throw anything away.

I give my little used craft items to my son’s school. The teachers can then divvy up what they want. The only thing I have a problem letting go is my paper. I am a paper hoarder. I do end up using it eventually! Thanks for the chance to win.

I’m taking a break from cleaning & purging right now. How did you know? I usually sell things I no longer use at my LSS. We have a garage sale every spring. Some of the items I take to school for my students. They love creating with them. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I am just starting to build a collection, so don’t have much to give away. The few duplicates I get (usually gifts) I share with friends that also stamp.
I collect. I used to purge but then I would need something for a card and it would be something I had purged. So now I collect.
I tend to collect things for my card collection. Every now and again I give things to my daughter-in-law and my two daughters who also make cards. They know I have a lot of stamps so my daughters will borrow my things and go through my paper and scraps.

I have had several culls of stamps that I haven’t used (and probably won’t) and give them to my friends. As for Spellbinders dies…I don’t care if they are retired or not, I’ll still use them. I’m addicted to my dies 🙂
Oh my, I have the hardest time getting rid of anything and that goes for supplies and stamp sets. I occasionally go through my printed papers and embellishments…and will donate some to my daughter or her Mom’s group. I also donate to the Senior center where i teach cardmaking. As for stamp sets though, I think I still have the very first stamp I ever bought!!
This sounds like fun. I pass my loved but unused supplies on to other paper crafters. We have a group of 12 stampers who have been meeting monthly for seven years. There is always someone in the group who is willing to open their studio to give a stamp, die cut, or tools good home. 🙂

I either take excess to a Senior Center or After School program. They always love playing with whatever I bring!!! Puts a smile on everyone’s face!

I finally moved into a house this weekend where I will be able to have a craft room. So, I am excited to be able to finally use my beautiful supplies. And yes, there will also be some purging to make sure I can see everything 🙂
I hate to admit it but continue to hoard my craft supplies. My granddaughters always find something exciting to work with in my craft room.

Happy New Year and thank you for the opportunity to win such great items. I tend to hang onto my items for a while, then I will go through, take out the ones I don’t use as often, take them to a yard sale but usually wind up getting something from others at the sale.
Well, I must admit that for the most part I keep everything. I have given away some of my expendables to friends from time to time, but I’ve never gotten rid of any of my tools and fundamentals. As soon as I would do that I would find a need for it. I need to go through my craft room and look and see what I might could sell or give away. Since I don’t have a space problem yet, I think that keeps me hanging on to my treasurers.

I usually keep retired items. I figure I bought them because I liked them, so they don’t need to be current for me to use them. Once in awhile I list a few things on E-bay if they are items I haven’t used for awhile.
I “hoard” it all…I can’t stand to part with it…..and get great pleasure when I bring out something old to use, it makes me feel good…weird I know, but I just can’t let go…but sure am glad not everyone is like me…lol….and no, I don’t hoard cats…yet…lol!!

I pass all of my older equipment to a 10 year old girl I know who is just starting to get into rubber stamping,. With some encouragement I hope to have a new stamp buddy.
I try to purge some of my supplies annually when our local stamp store has a “garage sale”. We then get credit at her store for whatever she sells for us. Then I can stock up again:)

If I really feel that I have a stamp set that I do not really want anymore, I usually give it to my granddaughter or nieces and nephew, infecting the next generation! 🙂

Thanks for sharing….inspiration and your “purge.” I purge my stuff on a regular basis too and if it’s still usuable, I pass it along to a crafter who’ll love it or I donate it to someone – I helped get an “arts & crafts” club started at my new middle school this past fall so that’s where a lot of my recent purge has gone. We made enough money selling Christmas cards we made to donate $700 to our local food bank and also help a community we support overseas.

I only purge things that are definitely “purgeable”! If there is any question in my mind of the “purgeability” of an item, it is “non-purgeable” for now. It may become permanently “non-purgeable” or it may join the “purgeables” later on. It has to shout at me “PURGE ME!” to be gone.

My mother was a sewer and hoarded fabric. My sister was into stained glass and sewing and hoarded glass and fabric. Me – I think of myself as a renaissance crafter and hoard way too much of everything. Amongst that are things that I think I will repurpose. Those are going to be purging this year! If I can dig myself out of it. And maybe I will have some time left over to create more with what I have. Happy New Year to you and yours!

I find that after a while if I haven’t used something, I tend to give it away. I don’t have much luck trying to sell things, and I feel better giving them to people who will enjoy using them anyhow. 🙂

There’s a scrapbook store here that does a yard sale once a year that will sale you stuff for you and you get store credit for new stuff…so it’s kinda nice…unless you’re like me and go to the yard sale and buy stuff…LOL

I give outdated paper to my daughter who uses it to make thank you notes for her business. I have’t gotten up enough courage to purge my stamps. I put a sticker on the box to show me they are outdated and then I let the little neighbor kids use them to make cards for their teachers and friends.

Oh my gosh Beate, I’m such a hoarder that I don’t often get rid of my stuff. But I do have a niece who loves to stamp and doesn’t have a lot, so I get great pleasure in sending her packages every once in awhile. And that’s what it’s all about, right? Happy New Year!
I hate to say this but I hoard everything i have. I just can’t give anything away. for some reason, I always end up looking for it later.
I like to donate my surplus to the local hospital pediatrics or to the local elementary school. I try to purge every 3-4 months so that I have a “fresh” start. Of course I have my faves that never leave my stash.

I seldom purge stamps and never dies. Paper on the other hand I do go though and donate patterned paper that I have too many of the same design. Happy New Year.
When I am purging my things they either go to my mom to let the midshipmen at the Naval Academy use or to another friend who uses them with disabled adults.

My unused stamps go to our local thrift store where people find great bargains. I know they go to a new home with someone who will love them. I also keep a few older stamps for our grandchildren who love to make create cards when they come to our house.

Love the card and the sentiment is so true! What do I do with my old stuff…well I hadn’t thought of it really. I do have a lot and haven’t had time to get it all organized to see what is old and won’t be used. I have some paper pads that are stored away in cabinets that I haven’t even looked at in over 6 years. I hoard my supplies and keep buying more. Kind of scary. I just started re-organizing my craft room for the umptennth time and now have started to go through and jot things down in order to purge. It’s just hard to get rid of my tools (stamps, card stock, scrapbooking supplies, die cutting machines, and on and on and on). I need to clear my desk in order to create. Getting and staying organized is my new year’s resolution. LOL! 🙂
Wish me luck. I’ll probably break my resolution within the first month of the year, but I can at least try.

On several of our online stamping groups, we post garage sales meaning we can sell new and used, as well as buy at about 30% to 70% of purchase price depending if used or not. Great givewaway!
I just sold everything I have last 2011 and I’m slowly collecting some now for what I need for daily crafting I can use for any projects for my son and gift giving. But I love everything I have before and never considered them old/retired.

I am too new to stamping to have this problem. But with other stuff I try to give it away if I am really not using it.
I buy art supplies like I do anything else I buy — I look for quality and something that will last a long time, never go out of style, and can be used in more than one way. If it doesn’t fit those criteria after a couple of projects, I pass it on to my niece or the school district or local retirement center. What a generous giveaway! Happy New Year! I tend to find it hard to purge but I share alot of my consumables with my two close craft pals regularly so that helps keep things under control. As for dies, punches, stamp sets and the like, I try to use them often and also lend them to my pals and bring several along when we meet for our weekly craft night. As for alot of my older stamps sets, I have unmounted them to save space and I do still regularly use many of them. And again, I will often randomly bring some old sets when I get together with my pals so they can have some fun with them. I do continue to go through my stuff on a regular basis to see what I no longer want but it definitely wouldn’t hurt for me to get a little more brutal in my decisions of letting go of a bit more than I do. 🙂

Oh and I forgot to mention what I do with things I dont use anymore well since im new at this that hasnt happened yet lol but if it does then first I will ask my mom and sister because they do scrapbooking and cardmaking as well but if they dont want them then I would give to goodwill 🙂
Happy New Year! One of the things that I do with my older stamps is send some of them to my friends preschool for the kids to stamp with. I have also participated in stamp swaps at a local stamp store.

I’m a purger. I keep my favorites and give away my over abundance or less than favorites. My favorite place to donate to is a local school where a friend teaches children who are struggling with social skills and controlling emotions due to family issues. I tend to give my things away. I can’t stand too much clutter. It fogs my creativity. When I have too much of something, I just give it away to someone who can make better use of it. There isn’t much sense in having things sitting around collecting dust and giving is always fun!!!
I am a collector, or as my hubby says a hoarder, of dies and stamps. So a couple time a year there is a weekend crop I goto and take any of dont think I will use and trade them for other supplies. If I have no takers I donate them to my niece for future use lol thanks fo rthe chance to win.

I’m pretty new to the hobby, so mostly I just keep collecting. I can definitely see purging being necessary in the future, but I don’t think I’ll purge according to whether something is retired or not — rather, whether I’ve used it and it’s still my style.

If I really MUST purge stamps I stamp several images on good cardstock before I give them away, that way I still have a few images to play with when the need arises…happy new year!
