  1. My favorite technique..OH MY..I have to think about this one, I love trying out new techniques, I guess I would have to say sponging would be my favorite, as I sponge on most everything, that and coloring with my ink pads and aqua painter. I swear I have the watercolor pencils, the watercolor crayons, prismas, twinkling H2O’s, pearl-ex and just about every other coloring medium and I still go back to my trusty aqua painter and ink pads, craft ones are my favorite for coloring with now, as the colors are so much bolder! I keep telling myself to use other mediums and still I go back to my favorites!

  2. Those punches look so pretty all stacked up! I think my favorite technique is watercoloring. I don’t think I’m very good at it, but every time I do it I get great big oohs and ahhs!

  3. I love to faux stitch and paper pierce also. I seem to have to sponge chocolate chip on the edges of everything too. I’m not sure if that is considered a technique, but, it is very addictive. Almost as much as poking holes!

  4. Great blog candy – don’t have those punches…yet. My favorite technique would probably be paper piercing – I love that it is free.

  5. My favorite technique would have to be cracked glass. I just love the way it looks although i burnt a hole in my couch doing it! 🙁

  6. Hmmm…is using pastels a technique? I just learned how to stamp in versamark and then brush pastels over it with a cotton ball. Ends up with very pretty colours!

  7. Beate,

I just love your website. You have the greatest creations! Thank you for all the wonderful ideas! This Blog Candy is perfect since I can’t get my hands on those scallop punches!! I love the faux stitching!!

P.S. The Sandy Claws, I think is a play on “Santa Claus” and the “Pinch to grow an inch” is used on birthdays for little kids.

  8. What great blog candy! I love your blog and find it so informative, I so enjoy your tutorials.
My favorite technique is crayon resist. It is such a wow effect that is so easy. I also like paper piercing and use it often on almost every card I make.
    Thanks for sharing your creativity.
    Jennie

  9. Ooooo! Love the scallops!
My favorite technique right now is Cuttlebugging! If you can call that a technique. If not- any type of resist techinque.

  10. I ALSO LIKE THE PAPER PIERCING I HAVE ALL 3 OF MY 4 KIDS HOOKED ALSO. WE GATHER AROUND THE TABLE AND POKE AWAY.

  11. What a great idea for those hard to find punches! Who wouldn’t want some scallops? My favorite technique…sewing and sponging…they are techniques right?! I hope! LOL

  12. Beate, I just love all of your great ideas! I am new to this blogging thing but have been a demonstrator for 10 years, I wish I would have got into this sooner! The ideas are overwelming! My favorite technique is watercoloring.

  13. My favorite technique at this time is faux stitching and paper piercing also. I just finished 60 baby shower invites using both techniques. Love your blog. Keep sharing. Mary

  14. My favorite technique would have to be sponging…I do it on everything! I just love the effects on different papers and how it changes the whole look of each project!

Love your blog – look forward to it every morning! Take care. Alex

  15. Love those punch outs!! I don’t have my punch yet…hopefully soon.

I don’t really have a favorite technique. I like to try new ones all the time. But
I would say that embossing is a big one. Either heat embossing or dry embossing on
    my Cuttlebug.

  16. Do you know how hard it is to find those punches???!!!!! I think I may resort to spending a small fortune for them online *lol* You never cease to amaze me with your beautiful creations and talent Beate!!!
    Alli

  17. I think my favorite technique right now is future floor polish and pearl ex. I love how shimmery it is.

    Cheryl

  19. OOh, I love those and would love to get them. I really ought to consider getting the punches someday. Too bad money doesn’t grow on trees huh? Anyway, my favorite techniqe is an oldie but goodie. Two step stamping. I’m starting to grow on the rock n roll technique though. Thanks for the opportunity to join your contest. I absolutely love your blog and check it every day.

  21. I am just salivating over that blog candy! I don’t have those punches yet, darn it!

  23. I love to distress everything! Your blog is awesome! Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
    Lesa

  24. I think my favorite technique would have to be white crayon resist. I love the endless color combinations and no two designs ever turn out the same. Paper piercing has got to be a close second – I have to stop myself from making too many holes sometimes! (PS: a “pinch to grow an inch” is a very common birthday wish in Canada; “Sandy Claws” just makes me think “Santa Claus” but what seashells and sand would have to do with him leaves me puzzled.

  25. Hey Beate…you are a wild woman…hee hee! My fav technique is probably paper piercing too…I like to thread various items through it like metallic threads, raffia, yarn, etc. as well!

  26. Well I haven’t tried many techniques yet but I really like sponging the edges of my paper, stamping backgrounds with versamark for that subtle touch, and using my new edge distresser. I need to get a new heat gun so I can start trying embossing. Guess I’ll just add it to the (already long) list?!
    ~Melissa

  27. I love these scalloped punches – hope I win, because I don’t have the punches yet. My favorite stamp store is trying to get them in, but they are backordered.

My favorite technique – geez – this like asking a mom to name her favorite child. But I guess if I’m pinned down I would have to say destressing with inks.

  29. I’m with you, I love doing faux stitching, and doodling and also Paper piecing instead of piercing. I love paper piecing with the Bellas.

There are too many fun things to try~ I need to focus!

    Congrats on 60,000!!!

    Cate

  48. Hmmm… I guess I would have to say watercoloring is my favorite.

  49. Congratulations Beate! You’re a Stamping Queen! My latest favorite technique is polished stone.. I love how unique it looks! 😀

  50. I would have to say that my favourite technique is layering. That’s why these ovals would come in handy! I have ordered these punches, but as everyone knows, it may be some time before I get them.

  51. my fave techinque is anything that involves GLITTER!

  52. I love using Sakura glaze pens to give my projects some dimension. Fun!

  53. My favorite technique is to emboss on white cardstock with clear embossing powder and then sponge over the embossing with all different colors so that the embossing pops. I’m sure this technique has a name – I just don’t know what it is.

  54. I vote for paper piercing but I also like paper piecing.

  55. This is my first comment made to anyone’s blog so I hope I’ve entered everything correctly! My favorite would have to a mix of sponging and direct to paper with the ink pads. 66. My favorite technique is an oldie but a goodie — embossing. I emboss EVERYTHING! I especially love using the detail embossing powder in silver. FUN!

  67. my favorite technique is paper piercing. I love how it gives you a little accent or embellishment without going over the top.

  68. I still love the way heat embossing looks and just “pops” the image.

  69. I really like the crayon resist technique. It really changes the way a stamp set looks. I was making swap cards using the technique in a hospital ICU waiting room after my mom’s lung transplant when I met one of my best customers, she couldn’t believe how easy it was. I love your blog!

    Jen

  78. I don’t know the name of my technique but I like using a baby wipe (after it’s dried) to make my own “ink pad” with re-inkers to use several colors in my image (I use this technique instead of markers because I have no markers).

  79. Hmmmm, my favorite technique is sponging. I love the softness the technique lends to the finished card.

  80. My favorite techniques would have to be paper embroidery, spirelli and paper pricking. I can’t wait to find some of those scallop punches available in my area.

  81. I’d have to say that my favorite technique would be anything involving the heat gun (did you know that it makes great roasted marshmallows?!)
However, I probably use my paper piercer more than any other tool, so I’d say faux stitching for my most used technique.

  82. My favorite technique would have to faux stitching and poking holes also. It’s addictive! Thanks, Crystal Nixon

  83. Pick me!! Pick me!! I’ve been trying to find the punches for so long!!

    Tina

  90. WOW! Not surprised you’ve got that many hits. You’ll be at 100K before long. I know I come back to visit at least twice a day! I am having trouble thinking of my favorite technique. I so go in spurts. Lately it’s been dry embossing though, I’ve been cheating a little with my cuttlebug folders, but still I really like the deimension dry embossing adds to cards! And I don’t have those punches yet…do you want my address now???

  91. I am terribly new to faux stitching but already terribly addicted! And…I really really love dry embossing….and bling? Did I mention bling? Of course, bling is NOT a technique…but you couldn’t tell by looking at my cards!!! LOL!!!!

  107. I am a piercer too! So many fun things to do with it! Thanks,Crystal

  108. I’m so excited I finally stumbled onto your blog site…I’ve admired your work from Splitcoaststampers…you are amazing! I’d have to say lately, I’ve been using the heck out of the little tool set from Stampin’ Up called the Cutter Kit…it’s amazing what you can do with those lttle blades and how much easier it is to rough up those edges of cardstock when you layer…so that is my new “thing!” Again, I’m so excited to be a part of your blog and can’t wait to keep up with your ideas…

  109. My favorite technique is probably faux stitching. It’s just so easy to add and it really can make a card stand out. Thanks for sharing your wonderful work with us. I look forward to reading your blog every day!
    Britiney

  110. Hello,

    Charmaine G

    Virginia

  122. Oh that is me me please I am in love with these punchies, I keep having to borrow my MIL’s circle scallop punch, but you try trying to find a slightly smaller regular circle to fit inside in the UK!!!! I had to get somebody on UKScrappers who has a cricut to specially cut me some!! he he I love watercolouring and paper piercing and so need to get hold of the SU Mat Pack to help me with that

  123. My favorite technique is always the one that I just saw on someone’s fantastic card but that I haven’t yet tried!

  124. My favorite technique is to color. Is that really a technique? I love to color with the markers mostly. Coloring is a great stress reliever for me. I just find it so relaxing!

  125. I was at Michaels today intending to buy a scalloped punch of some sort with my 40% off coupon. Low and behold they had the crop-i-dile! I was more excited about that considering I have two young children and refrain from eyelets because of the noise it makes. I can’t wait to dig into my eyelet stash tonight. I would have to say that my favorite technique would be watercoloring with the wonder crayons.

  126. I love the cards that are displayed using these punches. They just add alot to them. I am just finishing up 4 of the large file folder photo albums they demonstrated at the Houston Regional. they are such nice gifts. I made one for my niece and nephew to highlight their trip to my home in Texas and they loved them. Thanks again for all of the ideas you share with us!!!

  127. Water coloring! Thanks for the candy, continuing inspiration and tutorials!
    frannyb

  129. Great offering! I love those scallops. My favorite technique is heat embossing. I think it makes cards look “richer”. Ashley

  130. Favorite Technique – that’s a hard one to answer as it changes regularly. Right now I would say distressing and paper piercing. I also love the cracked glass technique – can look so antiqued. 136. As usual, I love your work, Beate! When I grow up and be a great stamper, I want to be just like you. Right now my favorite technique is….faux stitching, I think. I like the crisp look when used with the white gel pen.

  140. You make everything so fun! Those punches look so inviting!! I think my favorite technique is heat embossing. I especially love using iridescent ice to make an image sparkle!!! Thanks for making your blog so fun to read!

  141. Congrats on 60,000! There’s a reason you’re so popular! I’m a pretty simple (aka lazy) stamper, and if I can’t call “ribbon” a technique, I would have to say paper piercing. I poke a lot of holes too!

  142. Mine has to be faux stitching and especially with my white gel pen. I also like piercing and want to try more paper piecing.

  143. Congrats on the success of your site, Beate. I’m one of your daily lurkers!!! Love to see what you’re up to. 🙂 Great blog candy. Gotta love scallops! 🙂 For my favourite technique, I think I tend to like embellishing the heck out of things. I love love love ribbons, can’t get enough of it! I also like adding brads in different ways. I also just bought a paper piercer and template, think I’ll play with it tonight.

    Well, I’m off to play…

  144. I think I’m with the majority – it has to be paper piercing!! Adds lots of texture with zero cost!! ;O)

    Thanks!!!

  145. Hi Beate! Hmmmmm, my favorite technique……right now I think it is re-inkers and the delightful non-stick craft sheet on background paper, technique. If this already has a name easier than that, I sure would like to know it. I just love the results!! The craft sheet is made by ranger. http://www.rangerink.com

thanks so much for the great eye candy! Can’t wait to get those punches!!

    barb hendrickson

  146. Congrats on 60K! Neat blog candy – and with actual candy in it too 🙂

It’s so hard to pick one favourite technique. I once tried doing Acetate and Tissue and I really liked that. The one I use most often is sponging, but I also love my Twinklings. Really I just like trying new things all the time and I’m not at the point yet where I have run out of new things to try.

  147. Those punched pieces look like candy! Such pretty colors. Well, my favorite technique at the moment is using punches, mainly corner punches, as borders. Take off the edge guards (or whatever they are called) and punch along the edge of a piece of cardstock – makes some pretty borders!

  148. Right now my favorite technique is using my aquapainter with my sparkly new H2O’s — so pretty!

  149. What fun blog candy! I would have to say that at the moment, my favorite technique is watercoloring. I am trying to learn to shade better.

  150. how fun!!! my favorite techniques right now are watercoloring with Prismacolor pencils & Gamsol Magic, sponging & using Stickles

  151. I LOVE your stuff, it’s always so “fresh and fun!” 🙂
I always leave inspired by something I have seen here, and try and create something Beate worthy. 🙂
What an awesome give away! I haven’t been able to get my mitts on any of those punches yet, so I would LOVE to get those.
Anyway, As for Favortie techniques, well if favorite means most used, then I love to watercolor, second is a toss up, I use faux stitching, on a lot of things, I love masking, and bleaching, although hard on your stamps, a totally cool outcome!
    Amy

  152. Oh those are nice to look at! In Canada those punches are VERY hard to come by. Joann’s doesn’t mail to Canada either 🙁
I’m just learning to use the watercolour crayons so I’d have to say it’s my fave technique right now! Although I wouldn’t say I’m very good…lol

  153. Favorite technique would be watercoloring. I just love coloring and have since I was a kid. Something so relaxing and calming about it and the finish product is always pleasing.

  154. Gotta love those scallops!!! 😉 I think my favorite technique would have to be watercoloring! I just love my WWC’s!!!!! 😉

  155. Hi Beate,

Love your site. You got wonderful ideas and a great sense of humour. My favourite technique is sponging or using the daubers to do my cards. I don’t have any of these punches so I’d really like to win this blog candies. Have a good day.

  156. Beate –
My favorite technique is Faux Stitching too! I love to make all sorts of stitches with my white gel pen! Thanks for sharing the Crayon Resist today, it’s nice to try an old technique again!
    Happy Blogging!
    Judy

  157. First time visiting your blog tonight….what took me so long? LOVE your creations…they are so inspiring…

my favorite technique is sponging/distressing anything to give something an aged look!

  158. Wow , such a deserving blog too! Love it!!!
My fav technique is probably watercoloring…even though I stink at it. lol
    ~Lana~

  159. Hmm, favorite technique – it would probably be watercoloring right now – I’ve just taken a couple of classes on different water color techniques and I’m a little bit hooked on it!

    Thanks for a great blog!

  160. Congratulations on 60K! My favourite technique is kissing. Such cure result from this every time.

  161. Wonderful blog! Would LOVE to own some punches!! I’m fairly new at stamping but thus far I have used heat embossing,(would love some dry embossing folders too), paper piercing (finally!)and sponging. I like it all and yet have so MUCH to learn. Thank you for your generous offer Beate!!

  162. My most used would probably be paper piercing, but my favorite is speckling.

  163. Love the blog candy!! Right now, I seem to be using a lot of the prismas and Gamsol. I still need to work on the shading, but it is still fun.

  164. Hi,
Thanks for offering this great blog candy. My favorite technique is dry embossing. I hate SU didn’t have more in their catalog this year. I just got the cuttlebug and love to use the embossing foders with it.
    Thanks,
    Christina Vertefeuille

  165. WOW 60,000 already! That’s wonderful! Thanks for offering the great blog candy again! My favorite technique is watercoloring. I have been using my WC wonder crayons so much recently, I am addicted! Congrats!

  166. Oh my goodness, that’s a really tough one. At the moment, I’m into making the scalloped edges with the slit punch, but perhaps sponging comes a close second, because it’s easy, looks classy, and it’s quick. Watercolouring is up there too, because it looks so good, and I love colouring in!

  167. My favorite technique is watercoloring by coloring the stamps with the watercolor crayons.

  168. What thoughtful goodies! I NEED these! LOL My favorite technique at the moment is also piercing those little holes on anything I can!

  169. Congrats! I have to say my favorite technique right now is heat embossing! Thanks
    Tracy H.

  170. I just learned how to do faux metal and I am digging it.
    Thanks,
    Heather B

  171. I love paper piercing also. Easy but a great look! Love your site!

    Malissa

  172. My two favourite techniques – crayon resist, and rock and roll. If I had to pick one it would be rock n roll.

    Love your blog.

    -Stephanie

  173. Hello, I totaly love the shaving cream tech……not only is it VERY messy (which I love doing with the kids), but it never turns ou the same twice 🙂

Thanks for the great blog candy

    Tanya

  174. I love my Aquapainter and my watercolor paper!
I need scallops….can’t find these punches in stock anywhere!

    Lisa

  175. My favourite technique changes everytime I learn something new. I just did Polished Stone so it is my current favourite. One of the things I love about stamping is that there is always something new and wonderful, and that there are always people willing to share inspiration and ideas!

  176. Yummy blog candy. I enjoy your blog. Favorite technique? I guess my current one is dry embossing. Linda SS

  177. What yummy candy! I would guess I use sponging/distressing most often, but also enjoy emboss resist and other types of embossing.

  178. My fave technique is probably……um…..man it is so hard to just pick a favorite…. okay my favorite is “flicking” – you know that whole “flicking” the edges of the cardstock on the top of an ink pad…does that qualify as a technique? Well for me it does because I do it ALOT! LOL! tee hee hee

  179. Oh my Beate! I don’t have ANY of those awesome punches yet so this would be very yummy candy to receive! Love the photo of them all stacked up. You were B-U-S-Y! 🙂 Ok, my current fav technique is “cuttlebugging”, but I’m also very fond of coloring with prismas/gamsol. Love your blog and read it daily! Smiles 2 U, Pam 🙂

  180. What a creative giveaway! I would so love these, those punches are showing up everywhere. I think my favorite technique has to be emboss resist. It’s so fun to watch your stamping come to life as you sponge on the colour. Thanks for sharing!

  181. My favorite technique is probably watercoloring and adding Dazzling Diamonds– a girl’s best friend– you can never have enough diamonds!

  182. I’m jumping up and down here saying, “Pick me! Pick me!” because I don’t have those great scallop punches yet…. Anyway, a favorite technique is hard to pick because they are really all so fun, aren’t they? I’ve been teaching a lot of new stampers lately so I’ve been doing lots of heat embossing, which is really an impressive technique to a newbie!!! Beauty and ease, what more could you want? Thanks for all your wonderful cards and tutorials!

  183. Oh, my gosh!!! I want this so bad! It’s like the lottery, though. I never win. There’s always a first time. XOXO and thanks for the GREAT blog!

  184. Beate, Thanks for all the beautiful artwork and inspiration you share! I love lots of techniques, but I use the simple ones the most like embossing, watercoloring and crayon resist. Love faux stitching too!

    Margaret

  185. My favorite technique is using watercolors to color in stamped images. I want to try the faux stitching idea too, and just bought the mat, piercer and brass template.
    DeniseB

  186. What a great idea for a blog giveaway. I have been just dying to get my hands on the scallop punches. This is just dandy candy! I love dry embossing, my husband swears I love my Cuttlebug more than I love him. LOL Thanks for the continued inspiration!

  187. My favorite technique is watercoloring. Thanks for sharing all of your beautiful creations with us!

  188. My favorite technique right now would be faux stitching. There are so many I would like to try but I’m new and need LOTS more products!!! I’ve also tried to find these scallop punches! I was just looking for your tutorial on the trifold card and thought I would try to win your great candy!

  189. I think I’m like you, Beate! I love the faux stitching, ’cause it looks so finished and nice. I also love the sponging too though. I use ’em both a lot!!

  190. WOW!! Love the ideas here!
    Hey that candy is sweet!

  191. I would have to say paper tearing and chalking. Love how that can add so much to a card.
    Karen G

  192. Favorite technique would have to be brayered layers from the Technique Junkies website.

  193. My fav technique is direct to paper…it is soo easy & produces such quick results. I don’t have any of those punches yet so I would be estatic to get punch outs…thanks for the offer!

  194. Gosh I have to pick just ONE favorite technique. I really love using punches to layer our images. Lately I’ve just been using punches for paper piecing (I also like paper piercing), but I love using the tag punches and the word window punch in different ways. Punches! yup!!

  195. My favorite technique would definitely be watercoloring. Faux stitching runs a close second.

  196. I like to watercolor, but I would like learn how to watercolor using Gamsol and colored pencils. I hope that is clear.

  197. I’ve been dragging edges on everything! If that’s a technique, I love it… LOVE your blog and tutuorials too – thanks!

  198. I think my favorite technique is heat embossing. There is something exciting about using a heat gun and seeing your image transform. Embossing is so versatile – You can add pearl-ex powders, heat and stick and add flock, add layer after layer and create cracked glass, add several layers of a metallic embossing powder and make “fake medal”. You can mix glitter into your embossing powders if you are a glitter girl. Heat embossing has something for everyone.

  199. Right now my favorite technique(s) would be embossing especially with my Cuttlebug and distressing the edges of the paper with my edge distresser by Heidi Swapp.
Thanks for giving away the blog candy!
    Ashley

  200. My favorite technique is using microbeads. What a great give away. We don’t have those punches out here!

  201. my favorite technique…. dry embossing, it always makes a card so elegant 🙂

  202. I have a few that I am having fun with right now. Doodling, using my cuttlebug and paper piercing. I guess not unlike others I have read. It’s so much fun. Thanks for the candy.

  203. I ordered 5 punches from a company in early Feb and they charged my card. But the punches are backordered. but they still charged my card-100 dollars-and I am still waiting and had to contact them and they say I am on the list. so pissed off. wont buy anything from them again. and am thinking of contacting them once more and then the cc to complain. you dont charge people until you actually have the stuff to ship, I would think.

my favortie technique-is making a mess a technique? I have to trash my area for anything to look good.

  204. I’m loving embossing with my Cuttlebug. Thanks for all the great blog candy lately!

  205. Is punching a technique??? I am acquriring more and more punches……if it’s not a technique, I’m using paper piercing more and more—it’s fun. LOVE your blog—I have been a fan on SCS, but I love hearing your stories, too! Thanks for being so generous!

    It’s a good life!
    Terri E.

  232. I love the two step stamping. It’s clever, easy and you don’t always have to get inside the lines. I do like the faux stitching with a white gel pen too! Love the scallops, wish they could come to my house. I get a kick out of your blog too! Have a good day…

  244. I absolutely love your blog candy! I have been wanting to get the punches, but have been unable too, so this would be great!!!! My favorite technique would have to be “antiquing” edges whether it is tearing or using chalks or stamp pads to add that extra umph! It really gives a nice dimensional quality that I love!
    Thanks for considering me!
    Stampingly yours,
    Ann

  245. My favorite technique would be watercoloring. I just got my first Bellas and I’m having a lot of fun these little beauties in. Great blog candy!
